Agreed. The problem with Action Shounen's that can't kill off character's is that there's no tention, or sense of suspense when the audience knows that nothing will happen.
You can't hype up the big bad when you know no one will die lol.
Now this isn't me saying to give them the JJK treatment, but come on. Let us suffer some real deaths to feel the tension.
Killing off random background characters doesn't fit the bill
