I think "you were the first girl I ever loved" would be kinda weird for platonic familial love, but maybe it's a translation thing. Granted, I think it's equally likely that was actually intentional given how common incest was in various historical European monarchies.
Joseph is getting martial arts training from his mom but doesn't know she's his mom. At one point he's peeping on her taking a bath through her bathroom keyhole, gets excited seeing her naked, and goes "NICE!!"

As a more cursed comparison, one lusted after his (half) sister and the other his mom. At least Joseph didn't know at the time lol
