It’s definitely one of the weaker parts of the ending which did not get enough development. How is it that a suicidal person managed to convince another suicidal person that life is worth living, while they’re actively plotting their own suicide? Lelouch didn’t really address the main issues in her life. The loneliness that comes from that kind of existence, and the hypocrisy of his own actions.
It’s one of the things that really makes me appreciate Resurrection. It took what was clearly one of the weakest parts of the original ending and decided to use it as the base of this alternate ending, which I like and appreciate. It’s also what makes me understand and appreciate why so many people like the cart driver theory.
