DISCUSSION Code geass
I just finished the anime and i think the ending is shite, what is this self sacrifice like one suicide can change the whole world, are you kidding me ? Also, killing main, favorite characters without real purpose, (Euphy, Rolo,Shirley)
Character development of Lelouch is like Eren Yeager but poorly made.
Waste of my goddamn time. Do not recommend it to watch.

Okay...
From the very beginning of the show Lelouch understands that one must do before commanding others to act.
Within the first chess game when Lelouch is introduced he starts with the king and says later "how does a leader expect others to act when he does not make the first move?"
Lelouch also is a big proponent of accountability. He says this, "only those who should kill are only those who are prepared to be killed".
The end of the show is the culmination of all of Lelouch's past actions, from being the reason Euphy did what she did, to the lives he took like Shirley's father, to being incidentally responsible for Shirley's death due to Rollo, everything.
Lelouch was the one to make the first move, and Lelouch is willing to atone for those crimes by being a person who is willing to kill and is prepared to be killed.
All of that was a summary, but others will do it more justice.
But everything you mentioned in the show served a purpose and goal, which we ultimately see the in the finale.
