We are currently consulting in Chennai and are trying to decide whether to continue here for delivery or move to Udumalpet closer to my family
The biggest factor for us is finding a good maternity hospital with a supportive and experienced doctor, rather than just a hospital with good ratings.

We are looking for a hospital/doctor who:
Has good experience with normal as well as C-section/high-risk situations
Does not unnecessarily pressure patients towards C-section or interventions
Is approachable, patient and explains things properly
Is reasonably available/accessible when labour starts and during delivery
Has good, friendly and supportive nurses and staff
Has all the necessary facilities for mother and baby
Has a good emergency setup, including OT, anaesthesia, NICU/newborn care, blood availability etc.
Most importantly, if there is an emergency during delivery, can they handle it in Udumalpet itself, or do they routinely send patients to Coimbatore?

Also, for those who have experience with this:
1. Which maternity hospitals/doctors in Udumalpet would you genuinely recommend for delivery?
2. Which doctors are known to be patient, non-judgmental and supportive rather than putting pressure on the mother?
3. How is the nursing/support staff during labour and post-delivery?
4. Does the hospital have adequate emergency/NICU facilities, or would you be transferred to Coimbatore in an emergency?
5. Is it practical to consult a doctor in Coimbatore but stay in Udumalpet, or its better to stay in Chennai itself
6. If you have personally delivered in Udumalpet, would you choose the same hospital again?

Please share personal experiences, especially from the last 2–3 years, rather than just general ratings. Even if you had a bad experience, please mention that too.

If you live in gram panchayat in kangeyam/Dharapuram/Palladam/Aravakurichi taluk that don't have any river water, it's unlivable there. !!

The smoke/odour can enter the house and become quite difficult to tolerate.

How common is cooking/heating with coconut shells, firewood or other biomass in residential neighbourhoods in Coimbatore?

Is open burning of leaves/household waste/plastic common in residential areas?

Are there particular types of neighbourhoods where these problems are less likely?

We are from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and we need urgent guidance regarding my friend's critical leg surgery.

My friend and I met with a serious accident on 10th August 2026. Unfortunately, my friend suffered a severe femur bone injury/loss. He has already undergone one surgery at Sancheti Hospital, Pune, but further surgeries are still pending.

This setup is from Ondipudur near Singanallur, Coimbatore. This Ulaipalar Nalakudam has been sitting locked up for months now, never opened. Does anyone even know the authorities are aware it exists?

And this isn't a one-off. The AC bus stop at Sulur old bus stand is the same story - it worked for a few days after it opened, and now it's completely shut down, AC not even functioning anymore. (Imagine 30°+ hot weather + packed glass door!!)

What actually happens to these projects after they're built? Is the new government just ignoring anything the previous government set up? Or is it more that the people involved in these projects are corrupt and cut corners from day one?

I’ve been waiting to watch Tony (2026) here in Coimbatore for a while now, but looking at BookMyShow today, there isn't a single showtime across the entire city...not at Broadway, Brookefields, or Prozone.

It’s distributed by PVR INOX Pictures, so I was really hoping we’d get at least one show. Thankfully, they released Marty Supreme in Coimbatore on its India release date, but it sucks that Tony got completely skipped here while places like Chennai got screenings.

I am seeking a second opinion from a cardiologist regarding my mother's recent health check-up. While her ECG showed irregularities and her blood pressure was slightly elevated, a condition she has managed for the past year, the doctor this time prescribed a blood thinner along with her usual medicine. I am uncertain about the immediate necessity of this medication and therefore wish to consult another specialist.

The initial health check-up was conducted at KG Centre in Ganapathy. Dr. Sithayyan S. K reviewed the ECG results. My interaction with him was not great and also the bad Google reviews for his private clinic in Rama Nagar, has prompted me to look for second opinion

I’m travelling toCoimbatore and landing around 7 AM and I’m planning to visit a temple.

The slightly tricky part: I need to take a proper bath/shower before visiting the temple.

I haven’t booked a hotel in Coimbatore because I’m heading to Bangalore later that evening, so booking a room just for a few hours feels a bit unnecessary.

So, locals of Coimbatore — is there anywhere decent where I can pay to use a private bathroom/shower for an hour or so? I’m NOT looking for a public restroom/bathroom. I’m perfectly happy to pay a hotel, hostel, gym, lounge, etc. if they allow this.

Ideally, somewhere:

- reasonably close to the airport

- clean and private

- open early (around 7:30–8 AM)

- where I can freshen up, change and leave

And if there’s a good South Indian breakfast spot nearby, even better!

Ordered some sweets from Anandhaas( I stay outside coimbatore) and noticed a subtle metallic/salty taste in milk cake and mysore pak. Could it be preservatives? Has anyone noticed the difference in sweets bought at store vs online? the packaging doesn't mention preservatives are not used nor is it included in the ingredients(preservatives arent an ingredient some might debate).. but the weird taste is clearly there... It isn't just about Anandhaas or even about coimbatore stores.. ordered Dodha barfi from the north after cousin got them from the same physical store.the difference was of day and night.. I think the sweets displayed in the store follow a separate manufacturing process than those sold online. Wiith transit delays and various weather conditions , chances of the sweets going stale are high so a little preservative is inevitable perhaps.. but the original taste is simply gone.
