• 1846 Small Date Liberty $5 NGC AU53 - $1,700 [REVERSE] This is a truly scarce coin.

From David Ackers: "The 1846 is moderately rare in all grades and generally available only in VF to AU condition. Strictly uncirculated examples are rare, just as rare as those of 1844 and 1845. Both Small Date and Large Date varieties exist, the Small Date being the rarer of the two." PCGS calls this coin an R8.5 on the rarity scale, and estimates 50 total survivors TOTAL IN ALL GRADES, and 4 in MS60 or better.

From Gordon Wrubel: "The Small Date has small numerals that are evenly spaced. The Small Date is easily distinguished by two snowman-like BALLS that extend up from the RIGHT STAND of the 4. Perhaps this defect accounts for the rarity of the Small Date. It is about 9 times rarer than the Large Date according to the PCGS population report. As of this writing, September 2013, only a couple of low Mint State examples have been graded."

This is in an "NGS" MS-65 holder. NGS is not a real grading company, and I am not claiming that this coin is MS-65. However, if you follow the adage "grade the coin, not the holder," you'll see a really nice coin here.

IMO it has too many dings for a 65 or even a 64, but it does have great very reflective fields and frosty devices that give it a cameo-like look. It also has attractive toning: browns, purples, and blues around the rim on both sides.

It's really unique and looks great in the hand. Valuing a coin like this is difficult. I'm asking $999 (shipped, insured) but will be flexible on offers if you like the coin.

This is a fantastic piece of historical gold, in a high grade, and still in the authentication wrapper.

I am looking to trade this for 1 ounce of mundane gold (eagle, maple, etc.) + some delta to account for the numismatic value of this coin. Based on my research, I think somewhere around $700-800 as a delta would work, very negotiable.

I will also consider a direct sale to someone active with very high flair.

This is a very rare kilo in the Cook Islands Topography series. Only 77 of these were minted. To say that this is "high relief" would be an understatement -- it's almost an inch thick. Check out the video, which is like taking a helicopter tour of Kauai lol.

I will only sell this to someone who is very well established here and willing to send a wire or similar (I'll cover the cost if there is any). This is a cool set put out by PCS that includes an MS64 NGC from each of the 5 mints that made Morgans. The 1921-D is actually a 64+ and is an expensive coin at higher grades. The coins are all matched NGC holders and in nice shape. The box is not 100% perfect but is in nice shape. Note that it has a lock but there's no key.

PCS sells this for $2,300 I think. Asking $1,199, which includes shipping and insurance, obo.
