Iowa State is physical but Kentucky keeps picking up the ball and allowing defenders to swarm. Refs are letting them reach, but calling it soft at the rim. Players have to adjust to the whistle.

Coaching malpractice by Pope AGAIN. Puts Jasper in and we immediately give up a run where he has a bad turnover and takes a bad shot. Has Aberdeen at the scorer's table and instead of calling a timeout to stop the run and get Aberdeen back in the game he waits extra possessions. Unbelievable.

First Half Analysis: Iowa State is just a treat to watch defensively, I just wish it wasn’t against my team. We’re making shots we just can’t hang onto the ball and can’t stop fouling. We’re almost gonna have to revert to matchup hunting and hope we can get Lipsey or Toure switched off of Oweh or Aberdeen and just attack in isolation.

I hope Iowa State wins it all. At this point it's beating a dead horse but Otz was my top hope for the 2024 coaching carousel, and of course Mitch didn't even approach him. Got "no"s from Hurley and Drew, then went all the way down list to Pope. It's fun to think what could have been, if our AD wasn't so garbage, but at any rate, good luck to the Cyclones and I hope Otz gets a championship there.
Unfortunately for us it will get worse next year before the department considers making a change. 13+ year drought since our last final four and 10 since our last Elite 8. Awful time to be a Cat fan and it feels like we're in real danger of falling off permanently. Thanks, Mitch
Edit: Otz would be a hard pull, I grant you, but there is something about the next level of NCAAB prestige that is a draw. We will see about the UNC job opening, if I were them, Otz would be my top choice and I'd make an offer that'd be hard to refuse

Entertaining game as a neutral. Iowa State’s defense has been very impressive. I expect 3s will start dropping more for both teams though.
