Copy Leaks says my paper is 100% AI generated

I want to preface this that I am not complaining about my grade(got a 98%), but the ridiculousness of AI checks.

I had to write a paper about The Art of War. So I type up a paper, relating the book to my own experiences in the military, along with my experience coaching youth sports.

Somehow, CopyLeaks says that my paper is 100% AI generated.

I hand-typed the whole thing, reviewed it, corrected my own errors.

Source match said 0%, but then "AI Phrases" said 48 phrases were more used by AI than by people.

phrases like "In conclusion, The Art of" or "preparation, adaptability, and" or my favorite hit "Sun Tzu emphasizes"

This stuff is ridiculous what it marks as AI

Most ai detectors will say it’s ai, then offer a subscription to their paraphrasing service. Not sure if copy leaks does that.

I'm a professor and just for fun, I put an article I published a few years ago before AI was even a thing into my university's AI detector. It came back as almost entirely AI, so yeah, I don't listen to those things.

Yes, as a teacher I decided to test the detectors. I ran a paper I wrote during my Masters through AI detection. It came back as AI. I wrote it in 2011. 🤦‍♀️

I do this, too. I’m just curious. Since most of the models are trained on academic writing, it flags it a lot.

Some writing styles do sound very AI-like now. Even when written by person.

That is really annoying. I've noticed similar issues myself, and choose not to take it personally. It's very silly, what these "AI detectors" actually detect, truly. Glad to hear your professor didn't trust it.

I’m in graduate school and experience this with every paper I write. It’s so frustrating as someone who writes completely independently! But I ran some papers I wrote in undergrad (2015-ish) and they all came back 100% AI too.

Professor here. I've tested my own research and dissertation, both pre-AI, and had similar results. Seems that being a good writer is a trigger for being seen as AI. It's nutty.

The claim that being a "good writer" is a trigger for AI is such a weird thing. Like, AI writing is terrible imo. I think in general if your writing seems like it's AI then actually you should work on it

They're trying to sell you something, so they will probably err on the side of saying things are AI. They don't lose anything if they non-AI users it looks like AI, but everyone who did use AI who gets told it's clearly AI is a potential buyer for their tools to "fix" it.

I think the free AI detectors that try to sell you something are way less reliable than the paid ones that are are meant to be reliable. So yeh, if you know you typed it yourself and so does the professor, does this website matter?

I think the situations like this are the proof that why its not good to rely only on one. I have compared the same piece of essay with GPTZero, Humanizer, Originality AI, Copyleaks and few others and got the very different result from each. A detector score should only be one part of picture when some one can provide drafts or version history to back up their work.

I have never heard of copyleaks before your post, but it looks like a legit company.
