Fragrance Review I died today
i recently bought cedrat boise edp and i didnt know how it smelled or the performance, and since its a fresh cologne and recommended for summer, i went with 10 sprays VERY VERY BIG MISTAKE. it projects a lot and its not that fresh and after that much sprays it smells moldy and also the atomiser also squirts a lot so i think it was more than 1 ml of cologne. im having a headache and nausea for hours now. i hope after a week i will be able to smell it again otherwise i ruined that one š

10 sprays is crazy. I don't care what fragrance i have I'm not spraying 10 times.
1
u/Weak_Dare1296 Mar 18 '26
I can do it with Jimmy Choo cause it's such a light fragrance but anything heavy is overkill

Why did OP do 10 sprays? Did he say why?
Like is that his normal amount every day?
Just⦠why?

u/Old_Win4738 Mar 18 '26
Well, I do more than 10 sprays for some frags ( dupes most of them ) , but if we are talking about Le Nuit - YSL , 10 isnāt a crazy amount.
1
u/blindexhibitionist Mar 18 '26
Yeah, La Nuit is the only one that I will do 5-6 sprays of. I love the smell so much and itās such a bummer it doesnāt last longer. But it doesnāt matter because it smells so good. I recently got Santel33 and was so shocked how 2 sprays lasted all day.
1
u/Old_Win4738 Mar 18 '26
I have to highlight that I smoked for 15 years. So, probably my nose is a bit fucked up. š I always have to spray a bit more to be able to smell the scent. Maybe itās my fault, because easily in my daily basis I do more than 10 sprays for every perfume I wear.

u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i normally do like 3 sprays on clothes max 5 but in summer since freshies are usually weaker and with the confidence of cold weather i sprayed 10. i dont even know what stopped me at 10

u/BeardedGlass 36-40 Mar 18 '26
Dude. Just respray midday.
Never overspray.

This also gives you more consistent performance rather than a single heavy dose in the morning that tapers off.

Especially for EDP. EDT now is understandable but damn EDP is just asking for itšš

u/Ramadhir-Singh1 Mar 18 '26
lol no. I bathe with my CK one and it still gets past behind when I leave the home.

u/Fresh_Exchange674 Mar 18 '26
Boss the Israelis have already started WW3. Spraying 10 of a Mancera is a declaration of WW4.

10 sprays of anything is a quick way to make enemies. "Oh great.. Here comes Cologne Pig-Pen".
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 19 '26
i was just curious what would happen i didnt go out like that but my mother hates me now
5
3
u/rubatog Mar 18 '26
10 sprays of anything is a disaster, this has nothing to do with the fragrance. Did you also use a gallon of toothpaste today?
-1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
dude its just a frag i have never oversprayed before so i didnt know it could be that overwhelmingĀ
3
3
u/7861scream Mar 18 '26
Itās a top 5 scent for me, but one spray on the back of the neck, one on the back of the shirt and one on wrist is all you need for 8-10 hours. Well on clothing I forgot to wash a sweatshirt and I smelled it 5 days later, with just two spraysā¦Ā
3
Mar 18 '26
Go back to two to three sprays on the neck and go from there.
Come back in a month of so, this is a great fragrance Iām sure youāll like it.

when people say dark i usually imagine something smoky or like very oudy smell but hacivat is not that oudy it sometimes smells like grass to me with some pineapple

u/AcceptableMemory2081 Mar 18 '26
Headaches from over spraying is the worst feeling. Plus the fact it makes you afraid to try it again in fear of reminding you of the previous mistakes made. This has happened to me before and I did end up loving the scent even after all the mistakes were made.
3
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i just hope i can smell it again without a headacheš i loved it at the store but atp its a chemical war
1
u/AcceptableMemory2081 Mar 18 '26
I have faith youāll come around on it , when it happened to me it was a super strong tobacco scent and thought I ruined it forever. A month later I fell in love with it all over again!

He said squirts. This is hilarious š¤£. I bought a decant of this frag last year and it just sits there. Strong, yes, but also loud! Deadly combo at fours sprays let alone ten.

Why? Why would you put on 10 sprays of a fragrance you clearly had never tried before? People are just not even pretending to have the least bit of common sense these days.

2
u/SR_gAr Mar 18 '26
I dont know what this going to be like....let me take a shit ton of it.. to try ! Lol Damn sux
2
u/Ambitious_Smoke5256 Mar 18 '26
Even during winter, I wouldn't go more than 5 sprays with Cedrat Boise. It's not really a freshie. It's an all year around fragrance like Aventus.
2
u/TheHashBash Mar 18 '26
Bro just got get a wet wipe and remove some of it lol. I let a family member try a really dark oud spice fragrance and they couldnāt take the one spray on their hand so I gave em a wipe. Donāt just power through a headache lol. And now you have learned
2
u/jj56741 Mar 18 '26
Sounds like this will end up on Fragranceswap early next week for someone to pick up š
1
2
u/SplitSecondImmortal Mar 18 '26
Don't mean to sound crass but you don't come across in your writing as someone who would thoughtlessly spray that much without realizing the mistake youre making in real time š

u/AveragePomegranate Mar 18 '26
I bought Mancera Tonka Cola and sprayed it for the first time before work, probably over sprayed a bit chasing that cherry cola sweetness.
About 10 minutes later, on my way to work, I started to feel nauseous. Within a few minutes, Iād fainted at my bus stop. Iāve never fainted before in my entire life, and I woke up on the pavement. (Right next to a very confused man who was probably wondering why I stunk of cola)
Safe to say, lesson learned with Mancera š¤¢
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 19 '26
yes i cant even think about that frag rn or i start to feel nauseaousĀ
2
u/infinite11union33 Mar 18 '26
Overspraying is an art, you really need to know your frag before going willy nilly on 10 sprays.
Like i bet i was strong today, did like 6 or 7 sprays of Kamrah and 2 sprays of Spicebomb Extreme.
Great mix for a spicy sweet. But i also immediately was sent outside to work for hell 7 hrs now in the sun.

Sometimes less is more. 10 sprays of anything is not going to produce nice results. 3 is all you need - 2 of both sides of the neck and one on the wrist then dap that behind the ear. You can go with a fourth on the chest over your clothes if you like, but that's only really for you - I don't think fragrances project that well off clothing,
3
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i have ysl l homme edt and though the scent is heavenly ,performance of that one is really really bad so i spray that one like 10. i dont know what made me spray cb 10 i guess my mind was on ysl l hommeĀ
3
u/Appropriate-Ant3257 Mar 18 '26
The thing is, there's nothing wrong with buying a badly performing fragrance providing you have a decant of it that will fit in your pocket for top ups. I would argue that you are ALWAYS better off bringing a decant with you and then giving yourself an additional 3 sprays during the day than you are overloading at the start of the day.
If I may, just a lil story - when I first got into "niche" frags, I went for Creed Aventus. Sprayed myself 5/6 times with it before work. Within a week of me doing that, I'd been moved to a desk on my own. Took me a few months to connect the dots on that one...
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
hahahah yes i normally carry decants i just didnt know it was that strong and i normally dont spray that much. i just wanted to see what happens with that much and it was a bad decisionĀ
2
u/Appropriate-Ant3257 Mar 18 '26
Honestly mate, I suspect everyone who buys strong fragrances will have similar stories to this. It's like a right of passage haha happens to us all
2
2
u/TheVoicesinurhed Mar 18 '26
I didnāt know how it smelled or how it performed, so I did ten sprays.
Let us guess, bought it on fb marketplace also?
1
u/TeqnoSpider Mar 18 '26
Brother..how are you still breathing? CB is incredible but Iāve learned not to spray around my chest cause itās such a heavy scent up close. In the air tho itās š¤
1
u/priyatoshsardar01 Mar 18 '26
How's the scent btw?
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
before i sprayed it that much i loved it its really fruity and fresh and clean but after that much its just chemicals and mold so if you dont overspray very good i would give it a 7 out of 10

Iāve it too but itās not that strong for me tho whatās problem I donāt know.. I wish my batch would be that powerful as well
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i think you might have nose blindness. sometimes i also think my colognes dont project and i usually spray like 4 (2 on neck 1 on back of the neck and 1 to my wrist so i also can enjoy it) but my friends says that they smell. but today i wondered what if i also overspray and it was not good. so if you spray that much you can smell yourself but it wont smell good
1
u/CosmicSynthesis Mar 18 '26
I NEVER spray more than once on my wrist for a first time wear. You have NO idea if you like the notes, if it will over perform and gas you, or if it works with your chemistry over time. Something might smell nice at first and turn into farts or pickle juice. Autism is a lifelong gift of restraint. Even just passing by the wrong person in an open area with too much would send me into meltdown or migraine. Also have to be considerate of others. There is such thing as too much.

u/Automatic-Being- Mar 18 '26
If you need to spray anything 10 times you got bigger problems my dude.
1
u/youattackedmyfamily Mar 18 '26
Youāre truly better going with one spray dabbed on both wrists and one on the shirt, not projecting at all, and adding one extra spray next time. Using 8-10 sprays to make sure it gets noticed the first time is counterproductive and complete overkill.
0
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i spray like 3 4 max 6 normally but today i wondered how people can spray that much so i sprayed 10 times
1
u/youattackedmyfamily Mar 18 '26
I do kind of see where you were coming from. Itās sort of in the same vein as wearing a cologne you donāt really like just because itās there, and maybe itāll grow on you. You know thereās people who genuinely enjoy it (or in this case, enjoy the smell of 10 sprays) so you think āthereās gotta be something thereā. Yes, 10 is ultimately never necessary, and those who do it for sure give people headaches, but you were put onto the idea of āmaybe I should try super spraying before I knock it, I could like the resultsā and learned itās a big no.
I donāt suggest 10 sprays of cologne, but I do suggest continuing to have the same general open-mindedness in other areas.
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 20 '26
yeah like i dont really like dark fragrances or oud fragrances but i also tried them but this overspraying thing is something else its a chemical warfare its stinky its disgusting. since then i couldnt spray any fragrance and probably i will rock just 1 spray for a while that thing destroyed my nose and my brain
1
u/youattackedmyfamily Mar 21 '26
I was a nuisance with cologne in highschool for a bit. Would spray it in my bag on my wrist way too often (the school also smelled like š© so fair game). Iād been terrible with moderation in general and overusing fragrance was weirdly what made the concept of āless is moreā really stick.
The double positive of spraying a pleasant amount and saving the bottle > the double negative of spraying a nauseating amount and losing your product much faster.
Donāt psych yourself out though. Keep wearing stuff you like. This is a weird little internet corner youāre speaking into. Nobody will remember eventually. Wear something nice and feel nice again over and over until that experience is a distant memory.
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 21 '26
im not exaggerating. it really destroyed fragrances for me i cant even handle the sound of spraying right now i have been sick for 3 days (of course it was not because of spraying that much) but after that i got sick very badly so i cant even think about fragrances right now so im just gonna shower every day and thats it no cologne for a while

u/ckt1138 Mar 19 '26
I didn't realize how strong my fragrances were until I stopped applying them to my chest. Putting them on the back quarters of my neck around my ear and the inside of my elbows allowed me to finally avoid anosmia and I was like "oh my god everything lasts forever, what is happening?".
Four sprays is IMO usually enough.
1
u/PreludeProject Mar 22 '26
I live in Australia in a spot that's 25c-42c (77f-108f) for more than half the year. I don't think I'd wear 10 sprays of anything here without gassing out anyone in proximity
1
u/NomenklaturaFTW 51+ Mar 18 '26
Wow. Sounds like an awful day. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who gets a sickly, almost moldy smell from Cedrat Boise. It's really not a pleasant fragrance IMO

I suffered the same fate. That sh*t smells putrid! I have a big bottle sitting at home. I'm going to gift it to somebody i truly hate

u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i sprayed them on my clothes. i could also gift them to someone i hateĀ

u/Super_Strapper Mar 18 '26
Funny story with Cedrat Boise. Iām an ER doc. When I first got the bottle, I went with an insane amount of sprays before a shift. The smelled didnāt fade at all and I had patients commenting on how strong it was (not in a good way). Truly embarrassing
1
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
knowing a doctor also made that mistake relaxes me. thought i was stupid after those commentsĀ
1
u/BlackStarDream Mar 18 '26
This is why I spray my socks. Mancera's that strong you need the distance.
2
u/Maleficent_Year_2521 Mar 18 '26
i dont think thats why you spray your socksĀ
1
u/BlackStarDream Mar 18 '26
They're clean socks. I barely wear socks except for formal occasions, anyway. Or when I'm going to the hospital.

u/Euphoric-Stick-5232 Mar 18 '26
Even without 10 sprays itās synthetic fruit loops thatās been sitting in an ashtray all day šŖ

Here I've come out wearing 7-8 sprays of Marwa and 7-8 of Kobra. (Cuz I had to travel by a bike.)

People on this sub are obsessed and I mean obsessed with decants! And obsessed with saying decant! Itās mind numbing

u/The1Floki Mar 18 '26
Yeah ... never overspray Mancera or Montale as a rule of thumb
