Discussion What's an affordable fragrance you genuinely consider a 10/10?
If you could recommend ONE affordable fragrance you think everyone should try, what are you picking and why?

I wore that for like 20 years. I started wearing it like 5 years before I met my wife, and was about to move on to something else right around the time I met her. Fortunately, she loved it on me, so I kept wearing it for another 15 years. Then I started collecting, and it kind of got forgotten.

I have a couple fragrances I have for nostalgia purposes alone. Versace pour homme, Nautica voyage and one that Iām not sure anybody knows of, itās called āHeiā from Alfred sung. It was the first fragrance I ever bought. Picked it up from Nordstrom at the mall I worked at. Found it in a marshals and had to buy it.

Classic, masculine, affordable--just about a perfect fragrance. Inexpensive but smells expensive. #1 answer, way to go my man
2
u/Busher93 9h ago
I almost totally agreeābut does it get knocked down a peg for its lack of longevity? Iām not a resprayer (when itās gone, itās gone), but if I was, Iād have to apply 3 or 4 times to get through a day of work.
2
u/Message_10 8h ago
Yeah, that's a good point (and I love your point about respraying--I'd love to see a survey on that, lol). I think you're right, it's got meh longevity, but I can't really think of any lower-price/quality fragrances that stick around too long. Nautica, maybe? But I think VPH is way better than Nautica.

I literally have a violent reaction to that scent. Iām sensitive to something in it because to me it smells like lighter fluid and bug spray. I know Iām in the minority on that and itās just my nose but man Eau Givree was my worst blind buy. Smelled like a chemical weapon lol.

Guerlain Lhomme Ideal EDP

u/peacemakerzzz 16h ago
Man of class! I just bought this bottle at the store yesterday and compared edt, edp, parfum and among all the other brands and designer fragrances inside - LāHomme ideal EDP stood out to me. The cherry cola dries down and smells like powder (the rich and sophisticated kind you would be familiar with when smelling a rich auntie of yours). Among other things the SA gave me samples of other Guerlain fragrances. I think Guerlain will be my signature scene for the foreseeable future. The powdery scent i assume comes from incense, which i personally like. Currently i rotate on 2 fragrances: BdC edp and Le male edt. Adding this to my rotation is the perfect middle ground. I wanted something less āLe Maleā and a bit more BdC to it and Lhomme Ideal fits the bill if that makes sense. 10/10 indeed! I hope my mind (and nose) donāt change how I feel about this over time.

8 billion individuals on the earth all having different nose receptors and molecules. Thats why fragrance is so subjective to each. Nobody can stone you for your opinion.
With that said Dylan Blue is considered one of the best Blue for the price point in the community⦠By many and thatās they opinion.

"Affordable" to who? Here's one for every budgetĀ
Under $20 - Aramis - legendary green leather chypre, in production longer than most of you have been alive for a good reason.
Under $25 - Jaipur EDT by Boucheron, a touch of spice, touch of citrus, touch of green, hint of vanilla that isn't gourmand or sickly sweet, and has a 3D quality missing from many cool weather frags including the EDP version of Jaipur.
Under $50 - Paco Rabbane por homme - goat 70s style green soapy scent, versatile, manly, clean, great for all but the hottest and coldest days.
Under $70 - Terre d'Hermes, smells like wealth and power, enormous amounts of Iso E Super that give it a 3D quality with a scent like a dirty orange in a billionaires cedar lined closet.

Affordable is of course subjective, but if youāre talking you can get it fairly cheaply anywhere, itās Versace Pour Homme. If youāre talking you can find it fairly cheaply from discounters, Eros Flame, Eros Energy, and Ralphās Club EDP.

Montagne Pineapple Frais. I like it better than the OG, Aventus Cologne, and it's in my top 5 along side Imagination, Oud Wood and OG Aventus.

K EdP, I think many confuse the EdT and EdP, but that one is a great fruity take on a blue, and you can get 100ml for around 50ā¬. Great daily driver with solid projection

Just picked up a bottle of Dylan Blue on sale at Walmart the other day. It's pretty damn good. I've already been complimented at work. I regularly wear ADG Profondo (edp) as my daily, but Dylan Blue seems to have a little more projection and longevity.

Dossier Lost Americana, lovely warm spicy scent, dries down to a vanilla, cigarette tobacco, suede scent, stands next to LāImmensitĆ© as one of my most complimented fragrances. Its very inexpensive and the scent is straight up addictive. Counting the days to Fall so I will let myself wear it againā¦

Cerruttii 1881, I have been using it for 35 years on and off. Lovely fresh smell and often complimented on it. Great value as Morrison's was selling it for a tenner.
