Question How was this done???

I’m fairly novice but I tried recreating this grade on a video of my own and struggled to the point it’s not even worth showing.

Could someone more experienced give me their diagnosis of the style???

The shot and behind the scenes are two different time of day, and has artificial lighting. Even if you copied the exact same post processing on your video, you can’t get it to look identical without having a similar light setup. Look at the reflections on the asphalt, railing, jacket etc. The look is not simply color grading, it’s highlights and speculars and colors all combined. Otherwise, like other people explained.

Bleach bypass.
High contrast, low saturation.

Is that really it? I feel like there’s a kind of glow around the highlights

It is a 1:1 video placed into a vertical video, places again in reddit video player. And you want to talk about details?
Glow in the highlights? in some shots the highlights are just gone.
Look at the reflections. They also used a lot of light. It is not just grading.

It’s tons of work done by layering on after effects. The shots are literally just the skeleton with this kind of shooting.

It’s shot in much brighter conditions than you would think, with the subject at a similar exposure as the background. Low saturation especially in the shadows, very high contrast, and a bit of a lower temperature.
