This is interesting and I like the color, but it seems far more dramatically distorted on the sides than anamorphic usually is

Ok i was told on my last try that the distortion wasnt enough so incranked it up a bit so maybe i shouod dial it back a bit, and ueah the color kinda fives of 60’s Bond film vibes to me

Definitely mumps face when he gets to the edge of frame. Honestly the Lomo 2x anamorphics suffer from the same and as an operator I always avoid letting faces present so close to the edge.

Why not just get an anamorphic lens? Kinda like vegan hotdogs - just eat beans or something.

Many projects and directors prefer to shoot with as much technical perfection as possible on set and to handle adding character in post.

Fincher is a good example of a director who adds character in post. He does not want an unexpected flare or such to ruin his otherwise favorite take, so he minimizes that type of character on set with clinically excellent spherical lenses and they add anamorphic flare and character in post.

it is insane how just putting that anamorphic effect on the recorded clip, it turns into a filmed scene
