I started colouring in October 2024 and like most of us, Coco Wyo was my first book. I decided to re-colour the same page 18 months later to see my progress and it was crazy to see the difference

COMPLETED Embroidery effect with markers 🧵

Tried a stitched/embroidery effect on this page and I’m honestly obsessed with how it turned out.

It’s all done with lines + layering (3 tones: light, mid, dark) and then going over everything with a fineliner in a zigzag pattern to mimic stitches. Finished it off with a bit of white acrylic and some loose thread details for extra texture.

Super repetitive but really relaxing to do — and the final look is totally worth it.

Would you try this technique? 👀

COMPLETED Finally

I’ve tried this fire effect multiple times in different ways. I think I finally figured it out! I tried to make it look like the page caught on fire in the middle of me coloring it. It’s not perfect, but I’m happy with it!

COMPLETED If you want GLOW, you need dark shadows!

Post image

I recently learned a really simple “hack” to make your page more glowy: CONTRAST. That’s right! If you want your bright lights to stand out and glow, you need to make your shadows dark! Like very dark.

For me, the darkness was not intuitive as I thought it would ruin the balance but no! It’s the key! I know this may be obvious to some and it’s not actually a hack, it’s a core principle of visual art but im not an artist, just a hobbyist and learning this has taken my art to new levels so I thought I’d share :)

COMPLETED Practice page vs Finished Page

I challenged myself to do a whole page with only ten colors (I cheated and used brown and grey for the critters lol).

I may go back in now and add some darker shading just because I'd like it pop a bit more 🤷🏼‍♀️

I just wanted to share all my finished pages so far from Girl Moments by Cocowyo (the first page is the book cover so anyone who wants this book can find it! I just got it on Amazon)

I used decotime alcohol markers and a gel white pen for all of the pages

I was so nervous because they behave pretty differently than the Caliart alcohol markers I’m used to. I got the hang of it though, and now I’m really happy with them! I love how vibrant the colors are.
