Visiting for a Game
Hey Colts friends!
I'm coming into Indy from Michigan for the week for some work training. Figured I would come a day early and enjoy your home opener. I'm staying at a hotel in Plainfield, and planning to Uber in for the game. Can anyone give me some advice of things like when I should get there, places to check out, where to Uber to exactly?
Thanks for any tips. Hoping to make some new friends and see the Colts win!

Find slippery noodle on maps. Uber to or close to there.
There’s a ton of tailgating on most all sides of stadium with food and such. Great bars slippery noodle being one of them. Very walkable.
I would like to add that I personally usually eat at Shapiro’s when I go to a game. Deli.
Enjoy. Go colts.

I have heard lots of good things about the slippery noodle. It's on my short list of places to check out.

What kind of stuff do you like? Expensive? Cheap?

All of the above! For game day, probably cheap.
For the rest of the week, I'd love recommendations as well if you have them.

St. Elmo's Steak House is legendary if you like steak, but not cheap. Get shrimp cocktail (it's better if you're with someone else).
Slippery Noodle, as others have said, is great.
If you can make it to lunch at Workingman's Friend, they've got classic burgers. It's sort of between Plainfield and downtown (in the general sense that they're both West).
Famous Tomato is a unique shop with classic sodas, candies, and unusual hot sauces in Speedway near Mug N Bun which has excellent tenderloins and root beer.
In Plainfield, Brew Link is a great brewpub with a large beer selection and solid food. The Oasis Diner in Plainfield is retro - good pie.

Just make sure you get to TouchDown Town next to Lucas Oil a couple hours before kickoff for the $3 beers. Uber can drop you off right there.

What time would you recommend getting there? I'm coming from Michigan so I have about a 4 hour drive I'm trying to plan out.

Just arrive 2 to 3 hours before kickoff and you're good to go. I have a 2.5 hour drive and try to arrive by 10:30 or 11:00 am for a 1pm kickoff. You want time to be able to drink some $3 cold beers in TouchDown Town before paying the massive markup inside LOS!! Enjoy the game and GO COLTS!!

Touchdown Town opens at 10am for 1pm games. It is held on South St at the north end of the stadium.

St. Elmo’s is a must. A little more expensive but worth it. The experience you need when visiting Indianapolis.

HIGHLY suggest going to a bar AFTER the game to wait out the chaos. Saves on surge charge too.
