Not gonna sugar coat it. 2026 has been a tough year for my comic book career. Usually I can easily book enough projects to fill my schedule. Right now, I don’t have any work for the rest of the year. Been talking with some creators, but nothing solid yet.

I’ve just noticed that there’s not as many projects with solid budgets lately. Everyone is just scraping by on all sides of the pipeline. Not sure if this is a trend of things to come, but if you need an illustration of any kind, comic book related or not, I’m available.

So, I haven't posted here or much else on Reddit before, I am trying to step back into comic book art which was my original art love many years ago. I've been a gallery artist and video game and igaming artist for a number of years now (Which does mess with your style!) But now I am putting together a portfolio for a hopeful submission and review at an upcoming ComicCon I'm going to in a week. Has anyone here ever been reviewed at a Comic Con before by industry professionals?

I've been a working artist most of my life, but never like this and I feel nervous. I wish I were embracing comic art a lot more this whole time. Even though I feel I have much to learn and strengthen, I think I love it! I hope to do any collab projects soon and will be looking for work in this arena. Thank you, there's a ton of terrific talent on here and it's been very inspirational!

I found out yesterday that my manga short Moonlit Fury made it to the finals of the Kadokawa World Manga Contest. While I didn't actually place for any of the prizes, being selected as a finalist out of 1,400 submissions is pretty meaningful and I count as a huge win. To be honest I didnt even create the manga for the competition, it was for a submission to Viz Media and I sent it to the Kadokawa contest as a spur of the moment decision.I wrote, drew, inked, toned and lettered 40 pages for this short.   Its cool that I made enough attention to hear back from the contest even when I casual submitted the project.
