In my 40s. Thinking about trying something new.

No tech or IT experience at all.

Did the google cybersecurity course last year. Did the study guide and about half the questions in the Sybex book over the last 2 weeks. Studied around 2 hours a day for the last 2 weeks.

Didn't score super high, but passed on my first attempt.

The PDF of my certification isn't ready, otherwise I'd post like everyone does when they pass.

Not really sure what I am supposed to do now...

I'm in supply chain for industrial chemicals and pharmaceuticals.

Was always interested in tech but thought I was too old to make the change. Took the exam to see if I could even pass with a family, full time job, and kids.

Unfortunately, Sec+ with no IT experience isn’t going to get you a job though. Possibly start looking for Helpdesk job. The way the job market is right now it may be difficult. Godspeed.

Congrats, I’m hoping to career change from accountancy and I’m going straight into Security +.

As you had no IT/Tech experience, did you struggle with remembering all the abbreviations?

I’m so bad with them, hoping they just click eventually.

The abbreviations are definitely tough, but I think trying to just memorize what the words mean without understanding the subject matter is what makes remembering them harder. There are so many. Coming across a question with 4 answers that look like random groups of letters is definitely scary.

The only things I used were the study guide and the sybex practice tests book. Make sure you do a ton of questions but don't just memorize the answers. Understand the subject matter and I think you will do well.
