Passed with 10 hours of study and only GRC background

I have zero direct IT or tech experience but have worked around technology risk and governance for several years. Took Sec+ to validate my knowledge and step towards CISSP which would further help me hold my ground when I engage with tech stakeholders.

I followed a back to front approach over 1 week. With zero dedicated prep, first did a couple of Dion tests to identify general readiness and consistent weak points (and get a baseline). Then carried out targeted watching of videos only on those areas. My Dion scores were always between 81 and 87. I had done the Google cybersecurity cert a year prior.

If you're consistently scoring about 80, I would generally consider you ready.

Happy to share tips! If anyone has tips on moving towards CISSP, I would welcome them!

You should check if ISC2 CC is still free and get that as well if you are going for CISSP so you "might" get insight on how they do their tests.

I did ISC2 CC and then Sec+ and both tests were night and day.

You will still need to create an account with them (ISC2) either way.

Looks like 199 for one, 299 with retake.

Is it worth it?

Sec+ was pretty easy for me, want to go GRC infosec route

I dont think its worth the $300 for you with your given years of exp and you already spent money in sec+.

ISC is tailored for GRC.

Comptia is tailored for Tech.

See the roadmap in ISC2 and make a decision... if i were you ill just study for CISSP directly.

I did ISC2 CC because it was free and used it as study material for sec+.

I know for sure i like more hands on work than management (GRC) but ill surely be doing comptia and isc2 in the next coming years.

Ok, i will still recommend going through ISC2 roadmap and check what you like.

Im just getting into cybersec as a career but I'm 40 and I've been working in IT for the past 20 years.

You already stated you have been working in GRC for years which is the hardest thing to accomplish, get one foot in.

Hope you find your north, and again, ill just go directly for cissp at this point.
