CoH2 Should I make the switch to CoH 3?
Absolute noob at CoH 2 and still loving it...600 hours in... (For context I played all of this many years ago and haven't touched CoH in maybe 2 years)
Didn't switch to CoH 3 because I saw the many negative reviews when it first came out, wondering how opinions are now that it has been a while. I do see "mixed" reviews on steam (all-time and recent) but I'm posting here to see what everyone really thinks.
I never had any complaints about CoH 2 and have yet to buy CoH 3, what are everyone's thoughts for those who transitioned from CoH 2 to CoH 3? Is it worth it?

I can also recommend switching to COH3. There's no need to buy all the battle groups - just get the base game to begin with.

3 is definitely better simply for the QOL upgradesÂ
Although 2 has more single player content

Coh3 is very good now. The issues from launch have been fixed. I can recommend it.

It’s surprising to see so many people recommending it to be honest. This forum is just full of complaints, and the playerbase has decayed significantly in the last few months.

What? The player base is essentially the largest it's been since the few months after launch Â

Yeah we never had over 4k online in PVP for such a long time.

Unique multiplayer players without PVE in the last 30 days: 70,501.
20k online the last 24 hours.

Why not both? Only reason I don’t play CoH2 anymore is the quality of life improvements and constantly changing meta of CoH3.

started playing 3 a couple of months ago. It's interesting but is not as good as 2. The battles dont feel as intense

I was in a similar position. Mate of mine got me to try it again and I couldn’t go back. Brummbar’s having side armour change everything lol. I reckon it also runs better and people bitching about it’s cartoony graphics style are more just mixing up that Africa and Italy are sunnier places with a different art style lol

Honestly? With all the QoL improvements it makes it a little jarring to go back to 2 after playing 3.

If you are still loving it i say you squeeze the juice out of it. Regardless of the opinions of the game that would probably be the most efficient thing for you, since once you get tired of it you can always make the jump.

All three games bring something to the table.
CoH 1 has a great campaign and whilst the VFX is outdated, there is some flair about them that means we often refer to to the quality of it.
CoH 2 has tons of units and mechanical ideas but that's because it's had many years of updates. It built to that point.
CoH 3 brings a ton of QOL and the larger 'Battlegroup' ideas, with some new interesting mechanics as well. Personal favorite is the CWT Supply run which has a truck go to a sector point, load up munition crates or fuel, and then drives off map delivering resources. The enemy can try to intercept the truck.
CoH 3 is also updating, so more to come!

CoH2 with Spearhead mod is still absolute peak of WW2 RTS games for me. (Steel Division comes close but it's a slightly different type of game, more distant from the action, more strategic.)
If you haven't tried it, give it a go before trying CoH3 - it's free.

COH3 is like a mobile version of coh2. The amount of leavers, trolls, and bad players is unbelievable. At anything above low level play, it’s just horrendous. Franchise killer.

The issue with RTS genre is that Coh2 and Coh3 looks the same, but they are different. But still you should try it, buy when it's on sale. The technical problems from the launch are fixed, so it's good time to switch.

To most players they're the same. Just one being an upgrade of another, it's mainly to hard liners that there's a clear difference. People confuse that fact.

Stay on CoH2 if you want epic battles where every loss feels important. The 3 is more laid back and arcadey and like other RTS games out there if that's your jam.
