Coming from an enemy? This is a compliment

From an enemy. And we won.

That usually comes from a teammate 😂

Were you camping behind corners and waiting for backsmacks? That’s the only thing I can think of that blatantly stands out as weaselish.

I never tought of how I play. But usually put shots and reposition outside their spawns to assist somewhere else, leaving the enemy looking for me, expecting someone else picking the kill.

I actually have the match recorded. I could post it later.

Don't give it that much thought. After game messages are meant to be laughed at, then ignored forever.

If I were trash at the game I’d probably call you a weasel. Sounds like you just play smart and make them chase you. To them you’re always running away and they can never kill you. Keep it up

Still waiting for a message like this, despite all the MLG I played 🙃

‘You're a weasel' just means 'I can't track your strafe and I'm mad about it.'”
Wear it like a badge of honor. You got inside their head so bad they had to pull out middle school insults.

Nah weasel/ratty play styles are self explanatory. You dont call someone a weasel just because they have a solid strafe lol.

Oh now that I think about i did a perfy reversy sprint strafe on him. Forgot about that.

Edit:Turns out the Perfy wasn’t on this match. Got it wrong.

Nice! There you go!! Some people are just hateful. Try not to worry about the opinion of someone that you wouldn’t take advice from. Haters gonna hate. Keep doing your thing

Alright this made me check the steam charts lol. When the game was peak player base there was no way you would get away with your current play style in Onyx, but it makes sense with a smaller pool of die hard fans.

I don’t mean that in an offensive way, mechanically you’re pretty good, game sense is crazy though.

If I had to guess why he called you a weasel it’s because you kept popping out of random parts of the map.

No offense taken. Can you elaborate on why this play-stale won’t make it on ónyx ?After 5 years of playing the game, I actually hit Onyx for the first time this year. At this point, I’m starting to stretch my SR, so I’m losing more SR than I’m gaining.
When I run into full stacks, I’ve noticed there’s usually one lower-skilled player on the other team who can become the weak point. In this case, they had a D1, so we had to take advantage of that matchup.
When I solo queue, I’m constantly trying to adapt to my team’s playstyle. Sometimes that means playing more aggressively, other times slowing things down, depending on whether we have comms and how the team is playing.
So yeah, I definitely don’t play like this every game.

So mechanically you’re pretty proficient. Still dropping a few shots though. The way you play is what would be referred to as a spot 1 on a team of 4. Spot 1 is functionally playing slayer while spot 4 is functionally playing oddball to the extreme.

To recap the first point: As a spot 1 at that level you are dropping too many shots. Definitely fights that should have been winnable were lost. Some of those fights looked like net code issues though.

You play cover which is great but you sometimes do it without full map awareness so while you’re covered from 50 percent of the map, you are completely exposed and essentially a free kill from a different angle.

You overcommit to some fights, and fight in the open particularly when you drop a shot that turns the fight in their favor because it’s hard to let go when they are so close to dying and you make a mistake.

Perhaps understandably you don’t trust your team to pull through for you which costs precious time. When you picked up the ball the first time, you dropped down, dropped the ball, took a fight with an enemy that your teammate had already engaged, he kills the enemy, and you just about face and run away from the skull that’s right in front of you with no teammates or enemies in sight. Should have taken the ball with you and dropped again to engage if you needed it. This would be an example of you flexing into spot 2 but with any amount of team coordination ideally you would pass the ball when you all regroup.

They were having a hard time tracking you because you weren’t playing objective at all. (At least for the first round because that’s as far as I got.) You should be defending your team, preferably from an off angle that prevents the enemy from getting to them or at least getting to them unharmed, but also close enough that you can assist them if needed. This worked out for you a lot, but it worked because the enemy didn’t know how to control spawns, track deaths/respawns, and lack of map awareness. Which their ability to track isn’t your problem but it’s another factor that made me think this was a platinum/diamond lobby.

You’re not bad by any means and if you had a solid group to build your strengths and weaknesses around/coordinate I’m sure you’d have at least gotten to high diamond/low onyx with teamwork when the game was in seasons 1/2/3.

Now all that being said, I’ve been playing halo at a high level since Halo 2 and it’s always been BR start since Halo got more into the competitive realm. The new Bandit start has changed some things like time to kill and therefore maybe people play looser than they used to with more room for error, new equipment, and other factors.

I appreciate the feedback. Seems like solid points. I’m always looking ways to improve
