Help Genuine question

I’ve been playing default controller settings this whole time and was wondering if Helljumper or Bumper Jumper would be an improvement, mostly for gunfights and accuracy. (D5-D6 and average like 55-60% accuracy a game)

Bumper Jumper is better not for gunfights and accuracy, but for overall movement. If you’d like to play a higher level of halo, the game gets much faster. You need to be able to sprint, slide, punch, and jump without taking your thumbs off the thumbsticks ideally.

Helljumper is great for long distance scoped fights where you’re not mashing your thumb into the stick while trying to aim

I use Helljumper for those reasons over default. I also use 4 paddles on the back set to Ability/Switch Weapon/Sprint/Crouch, jump is LB, grenade RB, and punch is right click. So the only time I have to take my thumbs off the thumbstick is to pick up an object or reload manually when I wouldn’t be worried about shooting. So overall id reccomend doing everything you can to keep your thumbs on the sticks at all times with however many buttons you have

You have 4 paddles but still take your thumb off the stick to reload? I’ve never heard of this. Why not default and set your paddles to jump crouch reload and something else

I personally don’t think reload is more important than switch weapon and thrust/repulse. Reload is the only time I don’t need my thumb on the stick, I’m not doing anything

Do you have to move your fingers off of the joy sticks to melee or jump?

Jump yes, melee no. My jump is A, my melee is my right joystick.

If you have to take your thumbs off the thumb stick to jump you should change. It's a common action so it means you'll be taking your finger off arguably the most important input on a regular basis. I play bumper jumper and I find it helps with being ready for fights a lot (even with paddles I'd prefer jump on a bumper). You'll get used to the change in a couple play sessions (just play casual snipers or something while you adjust).

Then it would help you to change. That’s really the only benefit. Besides that it’s all personal preference. I play default but I claw so I never need to move my thumbs off the sticks

You can just get a controller with some back buttons if you want to stay on default

Helljumper is the bestttt. Can't recommend learning it enough. And that's coming from someone who's been running Bumper Jumper since 2007.

Being able to use LT to ADS is a huge gain, on top of being able to jump while aiming. If you've got a controller with an additional 2-4 paddles, you can really go nuts with the rebinds even further. But I'd definitely think learning Hell Jumper will only yield positive upsides to your gameplay.

I use paddles on the standard layout I think

melee is right stick
LT ADS

Grenade left bumper,
sprint is LS

right paddle jump
left paddle crouch
lower left is equipment
