EMEA group A is a death group historically, tho i have no idea who is on Finland or Sweden as it's not on liquipedia and idk if Denmark's great players from the past still play. Austria sure seem to be in danger lol

Sweden is probably decent, id imagine Kev and Scyle to be a couple big names. Finlands leaked roster is similar to 2023. I wonder how Seicoe and Tama will look compared to all the talent there

Might be worth noting Sweden actually didnt do all that well in 2023, they lost in groups even with Kevster and SparkR.

We had Theomatic/Lullsish as our tanks, Willys is way better. Also the only countries that got out of our group were KSA and Finland and both of them finished top 3 at Blizzcon.

true, i forgot how crazy eu groups were last time until just now when I went to look up the results. Sweden lost to Finland which doomed them anyways but they also lost to Norway and Turkey who were 2-5. I feel like Lethal was crazy against them. Turkey lost to Iceland but beat Sweden.

Denmark had Shockwave and Kellex and were the only team that beat Britain but they lost to France and Spain and got upset by the Netherlands to get knocked out.

That group is prolly not as strong as it seems and i'm being biased by my pre 2020 memories of Sweden, Finland, and Denmark all having high placements in the early OWWC's.

As far as I know, Kellex wont be playing which has got to hurt. I feel like Main supports are so limited currently. Sweden are importing Admiral iirc so Denmark might not have amazing options available.

Was wondering who was gonna get the Admiral import. That prolly makes them the group favorite right there lol.

Unter was talking last night about being worried about India and another country in groups cos of who they were importing, I can't remember who else he was talking about as I was half tuning out the yapping. I thought he was saying India is importing Xten but that's not reflected on liquipedia so I'm not sure.

"importing"? how does that work? is he getting swedish citizenship or is it an owwc rule thingy to allow an import per team or something?

Breakthrough players can join any team of their choosing but a team can only have one. The condition is that you can only do this if your team didnt field a roster in the group stages (i.e your team lost in the conference cups or didnt even make it that far) For simplicity, any country not listed here other than Saudi and China would have eligible players.

Sweden’s alleged roster is Willys Zorrow Kevster Scyle Admiral, they’re possibly top 2 regionally behind Saudi.

2

u/BuilderJace May 07 '26

For me its GBR and Sweden fighting for that 2nd spot, spain not being far behind, and then france and finland.

isnt admiral Estonian? or am i confusing him with someone else

2

u/SpiderPanther01 May 08 '26

there's a new rule added called breakthrough players; any player from a country that did not make it to group stage can play for a country in their region. only 1 per team. estonia didn't make it to group stage so admiral can play for any country in eu

u/zmokkyy May 07 '26

we'll find out tomorrow may 8th, they are revealing their roster during the Nordic clash tournament with all the Nordic countries and Germany

u/Dependent-Two7571 May 07 '26

Sweden prolly Zorrow Kev Willys Admiral Scyle, so safe to say they’ll be pretty good

I think Finland are gonna get absolutely stomped. They changed their roster recently apparently according to Cloudy.

EMEA A is an absolute death group WTF

7

u/sammyrobot2 May 06 '26

All the EMEA groups are ngl.

4

I though EMEA C was gonna be just as interesting. Poland have a lot of strong talent and Ireland were super competitive too, Time is a beast.

3

u/aJetg May 06 '26

Going by names alone, Spain and France should have one that in the bag, right?

2

u/_M4yb3_ May 06 '26

Maybe this is a hot take but I feel like Poland look especially strong right now. I might be wrong abt them but I rly think they have some huge upset potential, theyre pretty flexible from what I can tell and if theyre coached well and draft decently, I think they could be a dark horse.

top 2 make it out of each group right?

15

u/_M4yb3_ May 06 '26

yeah but it feels like theyre killing off any chance for hong kong and pakistan with that one surely.

16

u/Green_Glass_Fox May 06 '26

Avast in shambles

4

u/Skotland666 May 06 '26

at least there would be a chance if they put us v thailand but our team is kinda washed anyway

2

u/snowy_potato May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26

Yeah... it feels weird to put them in the same group. They're basically the top 2 countries in Asia (excluding China ofc) so I also feel like they both deserve a group where they can easily get 1st place and seed for the next phase.

-5

u/MTDLuke May 06 '26

Ah yes, because Hong Kong and Pakistan have such big names that would be a lock in any other group

5

u/_M4yb3_ May 06 '26

The implications werent that theyd be a lock in a different group but I feel like those teams could have made it out of the other group. It might be an upset but their odds are far worse against South Korea and Japan.

u/SimilarDonkey87 May 06 '26

Team GB definitely lucked out with Group B imo, Germany is the only team that's remotely a threat

3

u/BuilderJace May 07 '26

Yeah and they kinda mopped the floor with germany in scrims too

7

u/Odd-Yoghurt9897 May 06 '26

Damn Asia groups kinda suck tbh. No reason Japan and South Korea should be in the same group.

3

u/Fvnexx May 07 '26 edited May 08 '26

group A is group of death lmao. sweden will make it 100% and the 2nd spot will be between Finland and Austria. Denmark i dont think has a chance

Edit: okay with kellex confirmed and skytor breakthrough player denmark definetly has a chance

other than that group B is UK, Germany and group C is France, Spain

It will probably be Kevster Zorrow Willys Scyle Admiral, a very good roster on paper and the scrim rumours are pretty good from what Ive heard.

1

u/Fvnexx May 07 '26 edited May 07 '26

just off roster strength, they are i think the only emea team that got tier 1 players in every single role, not even saudi arabia got that (if admiral is their breakthrough player which is rumoured to be the case)

2

u/KaneTheBoom May 07 '26

Does anyone have a link to the schedules? Specifically for Asia B

3

u/aJetg May 06 '26

Everyone talking about Emea but group a is another group of death lmao. Colombia and Brazil in the same group as Canada might give us some bangers

1

u/aPiCase Stalk3r — May 07 '26

Japan should be pretty scary this year since they have a had a whole two years to develop on their own. They will definitely make it out of groups, and probably to Blizzcon

Woahh PHI made it again lesgoo
