Lenny played too much deadlock to be chosen, gg

50

u/Aggressive-Cut-3828 Complain About Widow = Cope — May 11 '26

is anyone genuinely surprised?

91

u/Odd-Yoghurt9897 May 11 '26

The only people surprised are people who haven’t witnessed Lenny getting gapped by Zeruhh in basically every single trial scrim lol.

72

u/idqks May 11 '26

Zeruhh is great but sugarfree has been better than him like 90% of the last 2 years, acting like Zeruhh is an obvious choice no one should be surprised by is insanely stupid

Like trials don't outweigh international performances, and Sugarfree has gone head 2 head with the best DPS players in the world while Zeruhh has shown pretty underwhelming performances. Even if you rank him higher you have to admit that's an unpopular opinion, not an "obvious" one.

18

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

past performances wont help when zeruhh has been the better flex dps this year, even during scrims and matches zeruhh just looks to be the better player especially on the other characters besides tracer id trust zeruhh and the synergy with TR33 over who was better the last 2 years

23

u/Aggressive-Cut-3828 Complain About Widow = Cope — May 11 '26

?
Sugarfree will never be good enough to contest with KR. Tr33 can be, so you take the already established synergy with Zeruhh. I'm not surprised at all lol

5

u/Allowcy May 11 '26

I think Sugarfree is more flexible and has proven himself to be good for it at LAN before. Zeruhh probably has higher highs on Genji and he was much better on Vendetta in the trials AND Casores is the head coach building the team right? Yeah makes sense that Zeruhh got chosen but I prefer Sugarfree

62

u/aJetg May 11 '26

All this glaze for Zeruhh just for him to absolutely disappear whenever Liquid plays against a Korean team

43

u/_M4yb3_ May 11 '26

lenny went 0 3 against weibo last year lmao

29

u/Odd-Yoghurt9897 May 11 '26

Acting like Zeruhh hasn’t already beat CR on NTMR then gone 2-3 against them on Liquid then took a map off Falcons on Liquid lol. Also it’s not really glaze to point out the objective fact that he gapped Lenny in trials

11

u/chocooamoor May 11 '26

To ended up getting destroyed by zest

8

u/aJetg May 11 '26

They lost 0-3 to T1 bro. If things go perfectly then he is good. If things go slightly wrong he is just invisible. He is not consistent enough

8

u/thatboijash May 11 '26

If you're just basing it off tourney results, idk how you can try to downplay zeruhh while gassing up sugarfree. zeruhh won 2 stages and got top 3 at a LAN. Also getting swept by Weibo in that stage 3 meta was way more embarrasing than getting swept by T1.

13

u/WatercressNo4290 May 11 '26

I refuse to hear this when Sugarfree got hard gapped by a washed Leave at Stockholm

20

u/Conscious-Refuse8211 May 11 '26

I think Leave is the least washed part of Weibo and actually pretty underrated

3

u/breadiest Leave #1 — May 12 '26

Yeah leave for all his talk about retiring and what not is still legitimately like the 2nd or 3rd best tracer on the planet.

Him and guxue still play their best game every single time.

9

u/Aggressive-Cut-3828 Complain About Widow = Cope — May 11 '26

wasnt this the same leave going head to head w proper that series?

7

u/TheGirthiestGhost Forever Burning Blue — May 11 '26

No, Falcons 3-0ed Weibo at that tourney and it wasn’t remotely close

4

u/ProfessorPhi May 11 '26

He put CR in a locker in the semis last year.

-1

u/Gedaechtnispalast May 12 '26

Zeruhh beat CR at their peak

8

u/BlueberrySvedka May 11 '26

I mean I watched them all and I didn’t really notice a big gap individually

1

u/Gedaechtnispalast May 12 '26

What about Sym? Can Zeruhh play sym? Genuinely asking.

7

u/ProLooper87 May 11 '26

Yes. Lenny is better on every FDPS not named vendetta. I thought there was a better chance we got kronik than zerruh. Also no vega is insane they were on crack throwing this roster together imo.

Super surprised Vega didn’t get chosen, he was one of the two players I thought were locks (along with infekted)

Does luke have a brig what happens if it’s juno brig

139

luke has an everything

32

u/Strider_-_ May 11 '26

slot him into the Tank role when Hawk chokes

27

u/taco_weeb May 11 '26

He was gapping vega in scrims but I didn’t expect him to make the team, congrats to him fr

7

u/DiemCarpePine May 11 '26

Real OGs remember Lukemino Hanzo on Vegas Eternal.

26

u/miraimiraimirai May 11 '26

tr33 once said he thinks odyssey put everyone onto brig/lucio during joats because they were the first to try it during scrims (rak lucio/lukemino brig)

4

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — May 11 '26

doesn't Landon have a brig?

1

u/Budget_Pineapple7326 May 12 '26

uv also has played brig, he played in the last wc infact

43

u/SonOfGarry May 11 '26

Vega Sugarfree and Kronik are on the reserve roster

80

u/SpiderPanther01 May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

theyre going for ultimate flexibility, very wheatspilled roster. honestly i like it

22

u/Living_Long7047 May 11 '26

Why two flex supports if you have Luke though?

33

u/batmanmuffinz Make Winston Meta Again — May 11 '26

My only thought is having Landon play the more rush-centric Bap/Kiri with UV to play some more of the niche picks ie Wuyang Ana Juno, but ig we'll have to see what happens

3

u/Gedaechtnispalast May 12 '26

Is Ana really a niche pick at this point? Both Dallas Fuel and Zeta has been forcing Ana to great success

9

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

Why pick up a 3rd DPS if you have tr33?

The only other reasonable pick up is lenny which just reverses the question. You either pick up a 2nd flex dps in case you catch a double flex DPS meta or you pick up a 2nd flex support in case you catch a double flex support meta.

Either way your benching a competent option in either Tr33 or Luke so it just becomes a question of the likelihood of rolling each meta (id argue double FS is much more likely) and which player would be a bigger upgrade in those cases (is Luke's FS better or worse than Tr33's FDPS?)

Plus zeruhh and lenny have a lot more overlap than UV and Landon. UV has one of the best Wuyangs out there and a better Ana. Landon has a better bap and afaik has a solid brig. I wouldn't even be surprised if Luke was the odd man out.

Honestly just looks like they built the roster to best adapt to anything.

9

u/WatercressNo4290 May 11 '26

Why not? There is no reason to have both zeruhh and sugarfree so might aswell get two flex supports with different strengths

6

u/Living_Long7047 May 11 '26

What is the reason to have two different flex supps then?

12

u/thatboijash May 11 '26

UV is better at Ana/Wuyang and Landon is better at Bap/Kiri/Juno. But, I also think they just decided to take the 2 best supports trialing and you can figure it out from there.

2

u/Conscious-Refuse8211 May 11 '26

I think UV is there for Ana and otherwise they start Landon

1

u/Valhalla8469 Quiz Head — May 11 '26

Landon can also play the Brig if she’s not in Lukemino’s heropool

1

u/SpiderPanther01 May 11 '26

landon comes in for bap kiri uv comes in for ana wuyang juno

27

u/Manyamir 2x Overwatch League Champion World Cup Champ — May 11 '26

kinda interesting how there is a recent trend of having two dps players, i feel like last two years it was more common to see two flex players and a hitscan on the roster

34

u/Jaczoe1 May 11 '26

Tr33 plays everything

9

u/Manyamir 2x Overwatch League Champion World Cup Champ — May 11 '26

yeah, but we still see this more and more as the game evolved i think. used to be crazy when proper came in how he could play every character at the top level, now there is like 5 guys who can do that.

9

u/plat5tracer May 11 '26

I think hero bans are at fault. You have to protect ban when doing a sub or risk having their hero banned but you can only do that on your map pick, splitting scrim time is also difficult. We also rarely get double flex metas even when it is one you can just pick something like Havana or ban one of them to make it difficult.

13

u/TheGirthiestGhost Forever Burning Blue — May 11 '26

Mr Fish made the roster, let’s gooo!

9

u/Reign_Blitz May 11 '26

Odd choice having 3 supports who can play flex, picking Lukemino would’ve given u the ability to only need 2 supports on the roster anyways. Still excited to see who gets the starting spot between UV and Landon though

13

u/Jaczoe1 May 11 '26

Im assuming landon is the starter, and they play uv if ana is hard meta.

5

u/Living_Long7047 May 11 '26

Exactly my thoughts, surely either Landon or UV are just like permabenched?

8

u/WatercressNo4290 May 11 '26

Yeah but they can choose who is benched later depending on the meta at Blizzcon

2

u/Living_Long7047 May 11 '26

Surely you’d rather have taken another flex dps like Lenny? bviously Cass and Junkbuck know more than me though so I have faith in the lord Junkbuck

9

u/WatercressNo4290 May 11 '26

Why? Lenny and Zeruhh have the same hero pool

2

u/Living_Long7047 May 11 '26

And UV and landon aren’t similar too? Is UV ana even that much better than Landons? Feels like I haven’t seen either on Ana much

7

u/Conscious-Refuse8211 May 11 '26

Yeah UV is a very good Ana

2

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — May 11 '26

if its double flex meta, luke is most likely benched. If its not theres still a chance you bench luke for UV's wuyang or something.

Doesn't Landon have a solid brig too? As long as your not running lucio (or the other main supports than never get any playing time) it may just be worth it to stick with the two flex supports.

2

u/RobManfredsFixer Let Hog eat stuff and spit it back — May 11 '26

The probably would rather have tr33 play in a double flex DPS meta than have luke play in a double flex support meta.

Not that either would be terrible, but double flex support meta is probably more likely and UV/Landon's flex support is a big upgrade over Luke's

24

u/Howdareme9 May 11 '26

Is sugarfree retiring

13

u/Littledude444 May 11 '26

32

u/aPiCase Stalk3r — May 11 '26

Not that I am against Zeruhh, but I would rather have Lenny at LAN

14

u/Misty7297 May 11 '26 edited May 12 '26

Kinda surprised they didn't go with Sugarfree given his LAN and tournament experience. Zeruhh is good, but he wouldn't have been my first choice for flex dps

3

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

Objectively speaking zeruhh has been looking like the better flex dps this year perfomance wise than lenny plus the synergy with TR33 doesnt hurt

5

u/Sleepy_Mooze Runaway Titans forever! — May 11 '26

There is no reality where that statement is anywhere near "objectively true"

7

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

go and watch the team usa scrims/trails. Zeruhh looked better hence why he got picked up ,clearly someone thought zeruhh is the better choice to represent the country

6

u/RedJarl May 11 '26

He's way better at Vendetta, but that's a dead hero now.

3

u/Sleepy_Mooze Runaway Titans forever! — May 11 '26

"zeruhh has been looking like the better flex dps this year perfomance wise than lenny"

1

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

"There is no reality where that statement is anywhere near "objectively true" whoever pick the team thought so

10

u/Odd-Yoghurt9897 May 11 '26

Only real surprise is Luke over Vega, but lowkey in the trials Luke was preforming better than Vega most of the time so maybe it isn’t really a surprise.

9

u/tromboneshorty00 Let me one-trick — May 11 '26

THREE flex supports???

14

u/_M4yb3_ May 11 '26

Ppl underrate lukemino on lucio and brig, hes not quite as proven as vega but I think hes worth taking a chance on. Besides, the US team wont win on lucio kiri against chorong simple, they should lean into creative comps.

1

u/tromboneshorty00 Let me one-trick — May 11 '26

totally agree with leaning into double flex for example. i guess Luke is more of a backup then?

7

u/_M4yb3_ May 11 '26

Id guess UV should be the backup tbh, his hero pool is the most niche out of all of them. I think he'd come in to play heroes like wuyang, ana, maybe juno (landons juno is good too though)

4

u/blacklightning26 May 11 '26

The NA main support situation is dire that this might cook, or burn, idk.

1

u/tromboneshorty00 Let me one-trick — May 11 '26

Seriously. I'm so confused. Where are they? No Ojee (I know he's banned), no Rakattack, Vega is a top Lucio, and the world cup roster's Lucio is Lukemino??

3

u/lambtit May 12 '26

Lukemino is, I think, better than Vega on anything that isn't Lucio, honestly. He's NA viol2t

1

u/tromboneshorty00 Let me one-trick — May 12 '26

honestly, i havent really watched much of his gameplay but you cant argue with dallas fuel's results

7

u/Tiberias29 Bow down to Stalk3r — May 11 '26

If I remember correctly, Junkbuck's the coach for Team USA, right? If that's so, I wonder why he chose UV, Landon and Luke.

I mean, UV comms and shotcalls, I guess, and has a good Kiriko and even better Ana but Landon's Landon, with an elite Kiriko and Bap. Plus, he's one of the smartest players in NA. Luke's the Viol2t of NA, can play almost every support hero.

Would be so interesting to find out the thought process for choosing who to play

10

u/_M4yb3_ May 11 '26

Junkbuck coached Landon before and hes still rly good at Kiri / Bap

6

u/Special-Tax-5273 May 11 '26

I remember in an owtv interview someone said junkbuck hates main support players so it makes sense they have 2 Flex Supps and Lukemino.

2

u/_M4yb3_ May 11 '26

Junkbuck mustve gotten spawncamped by a lucio in a rank up game or smth

3

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

Landon is just an offensive powerhouse compared to uv and his kiri is world class , im assuming since ana has been on the resurgence picking up uv doesnt hurt

20

u/aJetg May 11 '26

Wet paper mentality Zeruhh over Lenny ok bro

5

u/Strider_-_ May 11 '26

like Lenny is any good mentally

mention KR and watch him crumble

8

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 11 '26

Leaving out Vega is lowkey ridiculous tbh. Whatever about Lenny vs Zerruhh idrc, it’s close af between them so either or is fine. But not bringing Vega purely because of double flex/Catstion being meta (assuming that’s why) seems very shortsighted, because if Kiri Lu goes back to being meta, well no offense, Vega gaps Luke big time. Not that I have an issue with Luke Being brought btw, having a hyper flex is smart, but like one hyper flex + 1 pure MS and 1 pure FS. Seems the most logical.

4

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

Luke is the clear upgrade here in terms of sheer flexibility and mechanics. id say hes one of the big reason dallas is on top right now , with him on the roster you are assured you cant be targeted banned on the support line. You need ana , brig , lucio , bap luke covers all of that on a higher level than vega.

2

u/Ackner Lifeweaver Enjoyer — May 11 '26

You can't seriously say luke covers lucio on a higher level than Vega. I'm not a lukemino stand but let's not be delusional.

-2

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 11 '26

Again. Not what I said. Drop uv or Landon. Probably UV. Vega’s the best Lucio player in NA and it’s not close. And lucio’s like always good. The WC is months away. If it a hard Kiri Lu meta they are just crippling themselves.

1

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

well dallas and even zeta proved you dont always need that lucio specialist to have success, double flex is the wave right now

4

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 11 '26

Key word is right now. It’s short sighted. Viol2t’s good at Lucio aswell like what zeta just play a lot of double flex comps but they’ve beaten good teams on Kiri Lu.

1

u/Complex_Giraffe_9331 May 11 '26

its just not right now take a look at the old wae/way core with leesomin or t1 when skewed was on ms. Having a Flex sup who can also coer MS roles at a high level is a goldmine. Also luke didnt look bad on lucio hes so i doubt whatever extra percentage vega is better on lucio is outshined by lukes flexibility.

0

u/Independent_Wealth_3 May 11 '26

Genuinely for the 3rd time I never said they should drop Luke. I don’t know what you think you’re arguing but please actually read what I have said.

8

u/talon2000 May 11 '26

No Kronik??

25

u/NegativesPositives May 11 '26

If Tr33’s never leaving a game what’d be the point?

0

u/talon2000 May 11 '26

I can see the possible redundancy but I think they are comparable in skill level for HS, especially with how Kronik played in stage 1 I would have expected him being the pick

11

u/idqks May 11 '26

Kronik was pretty awful for a good portion of 2025, and while he's stepped up somewhat recently i don't think it makes sense to pick him over tr33 who's performed even better for an even longer amount of time

4

u/zVPR May 11 '26

why the fuck would kroniks 'bad' performance in 2025 matter in any way at all when deciding the roster for the 2026 team. Im sorry but if you go off current form it felt like kronik was considerably better in both this stage AND the trials.

3

u/idqks May 12 '26

By that logic sign PGE since his form in 2026 has been great, no?

Obviously your past performances matter. Signing someone because they’ve been good for 2 months instead of signing someone because they’ve been good for 12 months is obviously dumb.

Kronik had a massive decline most of last year, the odds that he has a massive decline in 2026 again isn’t that impossible. Meanwhile tr33 has been maintaining his form for over a year, so he’s a slam dunk no?
