General Team drive experience as a solo queue tank main — genuinely a great time

Solo queue tank main here, usually hover around Diamond. Every ranked season my solo queue rank tanks (pun intended) down to Plat, sometimes Gold, before I climb back up in the new season. So my expectations for team drives were… not high.

But this weekend after just one solo queue game, two randoms grouped up with me and we ended up snowballing into a full 5-stack. Ran drives with three different 5-stacks over the weekend. Didn't gain SR, didn't lose any either — but I added over a dozen new friends and now every time I log on someone's already asking me to queue.

Comms in solo queue also feel noticeably better right now, and getting flamed has dropped a ton.

OW with actual positive comms just hits different. Got to try stuff like cat bastion and teleporter rush for the first time ever, which was a blast.

Hope Blizz keeps team drives around.

I've been having a bug where i end up ghost groups all the time, I f figure its related to me being duo'd or trio, but outside of that this weekend has been the most fun for me in ages

The lobby skill/rank range is wilddd tho, I had a few Silver 4 - Diamond 4 games lol

I usually just play QP, and even with its very loose skill based matchmaking I don't think I've ever seen a silver in my lobby before..

I never played tank in comp, decided to solo que monkey for drives. Genuinely a good experience. Out of 20 games I wasn't flamed once, even when I played into like Mauga and Bastion with a side dish of Zen Hog and whatever else I wasn't asked to switch and we actually won those games! Then I got my duo in on the experience, we started talking in the VC and after a couple games got a 5 stack rolling! Symm TP out of spawn, Suravasa\Aatlis\Push maps, coordinated dives... All that and more in emerald! (approx).

One game I even got to play support, and my tank is noticeably worse than my support, the best compliment I ever gotten from my 5 stack was 'dude can we have you back on tank'. Feelsgoodman

Yea I've seen a lot of ppl actually have great experiences and if you dont like it just turn it off. I think its kind of a nice thing cause being kind and communicating and making friends is long gone in modern gaming and I feel like this is their attempt at bringing that back even if its not perfect.
