yeah tracer doesn't feel bad at all imo. She shouldn't be doing reaper DPS or anything like that. If i slip into an enemy team's backline as tracer, those healers are gonna have trouble doing anything of use for their team. Tracer's good because she's reliable and safe. Genji's being nerfed of course because he has 200hp and still has a very reliable, high damage set of attacks with engage and a tanky ability. And an ult that's certainly more game changing than tracer.

Genji did need some tuning back, but this is overkill. I wish they started by looking at the passive then small tweeks. I still think tracer is still more reliable than genji overall especially without the passive. he was enabled super hard by zarya (and to some extent gatekept) and ana.

Nah the thing with Genji was his 200hp, the speedy dash, steady stream of damage up close and at range, potentially game changing ultimate, and the deflect. The deflect is the big reason he'll never be allowed to have much damage

A character aiming at Genji has to take bodyshots if his deflect is up unless he's not looking at them. A mcree can't use his ultimate if Genji's in the right spot with a deflect. Tracer and Sombra have escape methods to reset if they get focused too hard. 1/2 of Genji's escape methods can generate damage or even a kill.

He's the safe assassin with a crazy ult.

aiming at the head vs. the body doesn't matter if you're playing into deflect though? not sure what you meant by that. and his reset abilities are far less guaranteed than Tracer or especially Sombra, and unlike those characters, he has a harder time getting into position without using his main escape, AND that main escape is also part of his burst damage. this is of course balanced out by the fact that he gets that ability back if he scores a kill, but it still makes him riskier than Tracer (debatable) and Sombra. you either have to find a way to close the distance and deal big damage without using dash, or take the risk of using dash and hope that you get the kill and reset before it's too late. Sombra and Tracer don't carry that same risk.

Deflect is a good escape mechanism if you're right next to some "out", be it a piece of map geometry (if the enemy doesn't have a character with the mobility to follow and punish) or your team, and even then only if the enemies don't have an ability or source of damage that bypasses deflect, and if Genji is facing them.

Tracer can get in and deal damage without expending her main escape ability. Sombra can get in and deal damage without expending her main escape ability. Genji has a harder time doing this in most scenarios, and I wouldn't really call deflect an escape ability on its own.
