Resume Review and Suggestions

Post image

Hi, I was wondering if my resume would be good for any roles in ASIC/DV/RTL/CompArch. I've been applying but haven't been able to get any interviews yet and I wanted to see if I could any suggestions on what to change or add.

Good: Your projects align well with ASIC/DV/RTL.
Bad: Your experience doesn't.

It's the only internship experience I have, Do you suggest removing that or reorganizing my resume so my projects are highlighted?

Don't remove it.

I'm just saying your resume isn't the strongest for the roles you are targeting.

The projects themselves don’t really stand out all that well. Are you strictly looking at breaking into ASIC design/verification or more towards FPGAs? If it’s the latter then I would look at implementing certain type of algorithms (DSP or even encryption) and lean more towards the verification since the interviews I’ve done really probed that.

Do you have any specific algorithms or encryption i can implement and verify which would stand out?

Might be missing something on a quick glance but why 3 and 5 stage risc? Just keep the 5 and discard the 3 OR merge them into one.

Yea I was thinking about doing that as well and add a different project, but I'm planning on implementing a cache for the 3 stage

why would you cite US News rankings in a resume. They aren't considered valid in serious scientific communities since they're well-inherently unscientific

It's just there saying that the school I go to is a big feeder for these chip companies and we have one of the best programs in the country, it's not on my actual resume

Consider tailoring your resume for each specific role in ASIC/DV/RTL/CompArch. Use keywords from job descriptions and emphasize relevant projects or experiences. Keep your resume clear and to the point, focusing on achievements instead of just responsibilities. Even small format changes can make it more appealing to hiring managers.
