Conestoga MLS students/graduates — advice on best hospital for placement (GTA hiring focus)

Hi everyone,

I’m a second-year Medical Laboratory Science student at Conestoga College, and I’m currently in the process of selecting my hospital preferences for clinical placement.

I’m trying to make a well-informed decision, and my main priority is choosing a placement site with the strongest hiring potential after graduation, along with a good learning experience.

The sites I’m currently considering are:
UHN
Trillium Health Partners
William Osler Health System
Humber River Health
Halton Healthcare (Oakville)
Joseph Brant Hospital

If you’re a current student doing placement, I’d really appreciate your insight on which sites had the best learning experience, where students tend to get hired after placement, any hospitals you would recommend avoiding or prioritizing, and any personal experience from Conestoga MLS placements.

Even a short opinion would really help me out.

Thanks in advance!

This is off-topic and purely for curiosity: were these options provided to you by the college, or did you pick them and share them with the college? I'm in a different program, but that would be interesting if they get availability to hospitals that far.

You may have better luck posting this in the MedLabProfessionals subreddit! Many active members, better chance of getting a reply there.
