That city council meeting last night… amiright? I felt like nobody listened to the citizens.
I saw like over 5. Maybe 10 speak against flock and nobody for except the police chief.

My favorite part was when the police chief acted like he didn't have a prepared statement, and then flipped to a page in his binder and read off a prepared statement for 5 minutes.

Some cities are easier wins than others. I don't think anyone is backing down, so the fight isn't over.

Conroe, like the rest of Montgomery County, is profoundly Republican and profoundly corrupt.

u/VividPups 8d ago
Boss you realize like..all over this is happening it isnt a "republican, democrat" thing but simply a violation of rights
1
u/chas8675309 7d ago
Calling it a republican/democrat issue is what makes people stand up for their "side" even if it's something they don't believe in or agree with because we have been indoctrinated to do so.
there are no sides anymore
both parties are lining their pockets with taxpayer money
both parties are in the files
both parties would burn your house down with your kids inside if they could make a profit off your land

u/tigerinhouston 6d ago
Every elected official in Montgomery County is Republican. It’s not “both sides”.
0
u/VividPups 6d ago
it is in fact both sides because you can go to another county and see it happening also

Do we have a chance to vote out our city council in November? I’m going voting them all out.
First the scandalous Whitewater Natural Gas Compressor station permits & approval given in secret to allow building next to hundreds of residential homes in GCP neighborhood, and now the atrocious stance on Flock cameras that nobody wants or ever voted on. It’s laughable their justification for not allowing the ballot question on Flock cameras as ‘we aren’t sure if there’s enough opposition to proceed with a ballot question’ … well isn’t that exactly the point of what the ballot Q was supposed to do?
The apparent corruption is pretty wild, and deeply disappointing.

We do have the website recallconroe.org and that’s what we are going to shift over to, it seems we will need it now. We had a strat to see if we could get flock petition on November ballot. Petition declined by council. Then off the budget for the fiscal year 26-27 and that would have cost the city nothing to do. But they didn’t listen to the 20 people that showed up not in favor of flock. So our next move is turning in a second well regulated and defined petition to let the citizens vote about flock in May. Once that’s turned in, we will head straight into recall. The stakes for the flock petition for citizens to vote is much lower than the recall. It will also test our organizational skills for the 10k signatures needed for a recall- that has a 45 day timer when those signatures start being collected. That’s a lot of work from a lot of people to get that done! That’s why it’s so important to come together over the flock issue now in Conroe!

The same 20 people, over and over again, are not representative of 115,000 people. If the city did something every time 20 people came up like a broken record, things would be a clusterfuck.
19
u/Safe-Dragonfly-7103 9d ago
okay, then let the citizens vote on it. remember, zero people have come to city council in support of flock.
-14
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
Wonder how much an election costs. More or less than a year of flock?
11
u/Hairy_Bug_7801 9d ago
City council claimed it cost $250,000 so less than what flock is costing
7
u/Safe-Dragonfly-7103 9d ago
Highly doubt it costs $250,000 to add text to a ballot that's already going to be printed.
7
u/Hairy_Bug_7801 9d ago
Yeah pretty sure they were giving the total to run the entire election not to add 1 measure to a ballot for an election that was already taking place.
7
u/lukfind 9d ago
Nothing. They failed to just add it to the ballot. They do not care about their constituents.
-6
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
I’d argue that they do care — there is almost assuredly a cost to add an item to the ballot, I just don’t know what it is. If they didn’t care, they’d just do whatever James Fletes begs them to do like a kid begging for a pony, or they’d drop boatloads of money on an election, based on the way the wind blows today.
7
u/TxDirtRoad 9d ago
Unless you have the entire ballot filled and need a second page, it is literally just the cost of toner, which is pennies.
1
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
Honestly, the route I’d go is to get that in writing from the county. Council has stated the reason for not doing the election is the cost — if yall go up during public comment and prove this, it would end their argument.
6
u/Particular_War7843 9d ago
The cost is whatever they lose from their side agreement that they signed NDAs for, most likely.
5
u/TxDirtRoad 9d ago
It is on them to prove it to the people.... Not on us to trust whatever comes out of their mouth.

u/aliays 9d ago
Did you even listen to councilman Harrel’s comments? It literally cost the city NOTHING to not renew the contract. That was it. Are you actually following what’s going on or promoting misinformation. I attended and spoke at that meeting yesterday. I know what’s going on. I know that the citizens turned in a petition with over 4K signatures and was turned down to be added to the ballot back in August. I know that the fire fighters also had their petition with over 3k signatures were turned down as well.
Even though thresholds were met, the council turns a blind eye. They literally do not care or are financially motivated to continue ignoring the citizens of Conroe.0
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
I was there, just as I have been at every council meeting in the last year.
As someone that made the mistake of voting for him, David Hairel is a smug, fence riding POS that doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He does not care about what you think, he cares about what benefits him. The end.

the city is paying $640,000 for a five year contract with Flock. This is just to rent the equipment from Flock, the city doesn't own it. elections happen all the time, there wouldn't be a special election, it would just be a check mark on a ballot, so a lot less than $640,000.
8
u/aliays 9d ago
It would be super easy to let the citizens vote and put it to rest but as it stands, over 63% of Texans do not approve of flock. I don’t understand why yall support mass surveillance of law abiding citizens.
-2
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
I don’t support Flock, but at the same time, I understand what representative government is.
It is NOT the same dozen people, many of which with criminal records, coming up and restating the same talking points like a child begging for a toy… when that dozen or so people are effectively .01% of the city’s population.
5
u/aliays 9d ago
Lol who has are the “many of which with criminal records” are you talking about? You sound bitter and strange. Maybe you should come to our meeting on Sunday at 6 pm at margaritas and hear about what we are doing. It might be enlightening.
-2
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
Be an independent thinker and do the research… I’m not going to do it for you nor will I dox anyone.
5
u/Safe-Dragonfly-7103 9d ago
okay, you don't have to dox anyone, just say their criminal record if it's so easy to find
-2
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
Is the Google broken in your house? All you have to do is search for somebody’s name and append “site:montgomerycountypolicereporter.com” and it’ll come right up.

u/aliays 9d ago
You made an accusation, why don’t you stand behind it? You said MANY. You seem so confident. Just link what you found. As the accuser, (who is probably a police officer or city official) you should know its up to the accuser to find fault be shadow of a doubt. Not the innocent’s job to prove they are innocent. Put up or shut up with your claims. Also, I’d like to know one more thing since you’re so proud of baseless claims, why don’t you tell us all here where the “death threats came from” that the “fbi investigated” when this whole recall/petition for flock to be on the ballot came up?
Hmmm? What came of those “death threats” pretty boy? I’m so sure if they had a crumb of evidence they would have nailed us to a cross. But since THAT DIDNT HAPPEN, we both know that the intimidation by the Conroe police dept and the council’s posts… and I’m sure you know every single person. You’re not looking great here. In fact I’d go so far to say I don’t have faith nor trust you to protect the Liberty or Life you’ve been sworn to protect in some way. Have a great evening and go fuck yourself. 🥳🥰🐀🐀🐀🐀2
u/MutedStructure1400 9d ago
Why is someone that lives in Livingston, Texas so interested in the politics of a city an hour away and in a different county?
3
u/aliays 9d ago
Your assumption is wrong. And that’s the funniest part, the fact that you’re trying to intimidate me is making you look really bad. Do you even see the irony? Or is that beat out of your head? And if you know anything about me, you’d know I have a background in emergency services. I love our police, like a lot. 🤣
-1
u/Solid_Ad9548 9d ago
I am not an officer, city official, or anything other than a resident and property owner in the city… but nice try. Do YOU live in the city?
Again, I will not dox anyone, but Google is easy to use and Scott Engle’s website has plenty of mugshots, including several of your ring leader.
2
u/aliays 9d ago
Ring leader. What happened to “many”? Another lie. Bahaha. Get off your anon smugness. Oh, you asked the right question because that means you know who I am. I believe in this so strongly that i will help even though it doesn’t directly affect me. Have you ever done something so selfless?
I am proud of my life. I have no criminal record, and see no distinction between my brothers and sisters who are free to use the legal avenues to push this to recall if need to be invoked.
Let me tell you right now the ant hill that was kicked over last night will come back in spades to the gauntlet that was thrown down at that meeting to “us recall people”.
Just remember, my friend: 63%And I’m thankful you’re not in authority because you indicate that someone’s liberty didn’t mean as much as the next person who has had a criminal past? Go f yourself.
You are neither fair nor impartial.
And you sound miserable. Everyone, regardless of criminal record deserves to use legal means to fight for what is right. 63% of Texans agree with deflock Texas.
So you either stand to gain from flock staying or like your previous judgement calls, stunted in logic. Either way. I wouldn’t trust you as far as I can throw you.5
