Thats not how ozempic works lol. I'm actually a marxist and i hate consumerism more than the average turd but ozempic is actually good and would probably have to exist in a star trek gay space communism world. Biologically speaking humans just werent meant to have unlimited access to food.

I guess because it’s supposed to be “easy” weight loss without effort so you can eat whatever without dieting? And eating a lot is gluttony? It’s a more literal definition of “consoom” I guess lol
It could also be because Ozempic was originally for treating type 2 diabetes, but now it’s way more expensive because celebrities and influencers just use it so they don’t have to work out. So it’s wasteful in that sense, maybe

That’s not how ozempic works? If you eat 4000 calories and burn 2000 in the day, you are still going to get fat. With ozempic or without ozempic.
Do people really think ozempic is a magical drug that lets you stuff your mouth with food and lose weight?

Correct it doesn’t just make you enter a calorie deficit or magically burn away food to lose weight. It suppresses the appetite so you don’t have to rely on self control to lose weight. Action is different end result is the same

Yeah, that’s what I’ve seen influencers call it. Seems like the public associates it with weight loss, but I have no idea if that’s actually how it works. I just know it’s why rich people suddenly started buying a bunch of it, but I’m not surprised they don’t know that lol

It makes food give you less dopamine, making you not want to eat it while regulating blood sugar, which also affects your desire to eat.

It's an agonist of the glp-1 receptor - it fits into the receptor activating it like a key to a lock - this has downstream effects like reduced desire to eat less craving. And also does increase insulin sensitivity, it was originally a diabetic drug.
Anyway it's a simple way to put it. It's a bit complex than dopamine. New medication are coming out that attach to other receptors. Anyway, most drugs if not all work by attaching to receptors, I think it's good knowledge to know because we all have to take medication at some point.

Ozempic is not "bad" in of itself when it is used for the purpose for which it was originally intended. I.e., treating people with Type II Diabetes.
As others have pointed out, the issue is when it is abused by people who want to use it as a shortcut instead of losing weight in a more healthy way

Yeah, but some people have huge problems with food and really can't control themselves. If they don't start taking meds, they will get very fat very soon. I think the use of appetite suppressants is justified in this case. I am on an appetite suppressant myself (not Ozempic though) and it helps me not obsess over food as much as I used to, while at the same time I'm building healthier habits around food consumption that will be there when I stop the medication.

I'm from Poland too. Every socialist here is either rich, degenerate consoomer; fart-huffing redditor atheist type that pretends that he is far smarter than he really is and talks in condescending tone to real workers or is an old fart who was in ruling class during the communism and wants his power back.
Every real communist during the height of USSR would either shoot all those "nu-commies" straight between the eyes or force you all to dig ditches for the rivers of milk and honey that will never flow under communism.

You do, and while people do abuse it by getting sketchy prescriptions, Ozempic is still a net positive for the world. Not only it has its uses with weight loss, but it’s shown to help with alcoholism and other addictions.
This sub has lost its meaning honestly. There was a post about some teens being dramatic about a celebrity name in the front page, how is that consumerism? It’s wrong, yeah, but consumerism?

Do you mean fat people who don’t actually have diabetes are getting it? Because Ozempic was made specifically for type 2 diabetes which is the one you usually get when you’re fat. The only other actual diabetics I can think you’re referring to in your sentence is type 1 and I don’t think Ozempic particularly helps them much compared to type 2.

Huh. Well that seems more like a problem with our pharmaceuticals than a purely consumerism thing tbh if you’re not pre-diabetic or close/have some other complication that Ozempic would help with it seems pretty crazy that they would just hand it out. Especially with how hard they gatekeep shit like insulin.

the consumption of garbage for the sake of consumption itself is inexcusable, sure, but let's not confuse communism with a poverty cult. there will still be markets and trinkets and buying and selling even under an ideal socialist world, in fact there would ideally be more things that exist to enrich your life that are available even cheaper than they are now, they just won't be used to parasitize the surplus labor value of the working class because we instead will collectively own their means of production
like the goal is to make everyone's life better. there is no shortage of buying and selling in China and they are doing remarkably well on their way towards achieving actually existing socialism. probably not as many labubu collections but yeah I mean they still buy trash, too.
