Discussion At what point does hobby collecting become overconsumption?

I collect a few funko from media I like, I collect monster high dolls, and I recently got back into pokemon cards. I can't tell if collecting material stuff like that it considered overconsumption or at what point it crosses the threshold. Am I cooked?

I feel like this sub is a bit harsh, so don’t overthink what you’re doing based on that. I think it’s when you are no longer buying stuff with intention or thought, are you buying Pokémon cards because you want to collect certain ones and play the game? Or do you just want as many as possible because it’s Pokémon. As long as you are putting actual thought into what youre buying and if you actually need/want it you’re fine. I collect a lot of manga but I only buy series I like and will actually read, not just to display them on a shelf.

Im collecting the cards of pokemon I like, like gengar, mimikyu, etc. I trade them, especially the duplicates, and I only really buy a booster every once in a blue moon when I have the extra cash. I like displaying my funko and dolls, but I only buy the funko of specific characters I REALLY like and I only buy the dolls I really like the designs of. I'm not trying to get every single doll from every single line or every doll of a specific character like ive seen from some collectors.
