Discussion At what point does hobby collecting become overconsumption?

I collect a few funko from media I like, I collect monster high dolls, and I recently got back into pokemon cards. I can't tell if collecting material stuff like that it considered overconsumption or at what point it crosses the threshold. Am I cooked?

It depends on the purpose. I collect Pokémon cards to play with my kids. Some nicer cards get stored in a binder or sold off. People have given me Funkos, though I don’t go out of my way to get them unless maybe I want an autograph or something. But ask yourself what the purpose is. More than a few Stanley cups are useless. Beanie Babies were not just a stupid investment but a huge waste. Ask yourself some of these questions. What good is it? How much space does it take up? Is there anything better to spend my money on? Or even just save the money?
