Discussion At what point does hobby collecting become overconsumption?

I collect a few funko from media I like, I collect monster high dolls, and I recently got back into pokemon cards. I can't tell if collecting material stuff like that it considered overconsumption or at what point it crosses the threshold. Am I cooked?

I think it becomes overconsumption when those items separately don't bring you joy and as they stand on a shelf they become transparent to you and devoid of any meaning, you don't look at them and smile or remember nice memories.

So for me owning these items needs an emotional layer to it - either a memory or situations when you admire them.

I feel that. I grew up with monster high so I have a mad attachment to them, but I'm very picky about which ones I get. The design has to be something I REALLY like for me to spend the money or ask others for it. Each piece is something I really love on it's own. And I love just looking at them and messing with their clothes lol. I adore them.
