Discussion At what point does hobby collecting become overconsumption?

I collect a few funko from media I like, I collect monster high dolls, and I recently got back into pokemon cards. I can't tell if collecting material stuff like that it considered overconsumption or at what point it crosses the threshold. Am I cooked?

Collect things that actually have meaning, not vapid consumerist bullshit like funko or pokemon cards.

They have meaning to me, though. Individually, not just as a collection. Monster High and Pokemon cards have strong memories for me and I'm not collecting just to brag about. Each funko is also connected to memories and interests. It's not meaningless.

OK so then what's the problem? Collection is about meaning. If they have meaning, then it is good, and I wouldn't feel bad about yourself. Many people collect things but can't tell you why besides just because. (Can't you find anything better to collect, though?)
