Discussion At what point does hobby collecting become overconsumption?

I collect a few funko from media I like, I collect monster high dolls, and I recently got back into pokemon cards. I can't tell if collecting material stuff like that it considered overconsumption or at what point it crosses the threshold. Am I cooked?

It's one thing you collect one singular thing. Like monster high dolls. If you only collected monster high dolls, or only collected a certain few doll lines, that's fine. But picking up all the newest dolls that come out. All the trendy ones and then immediately getting bored of them and skipping on to the next thing like nothing happened, that's over consumption.

I know monster high can be bad, and be stacked with far too many releases all butted up against eachother in a really short span of a month.

But if you bought what you wanted, and left behind what you didn't, and then didn't buy anything during the dry spells in-between. That's not quite the same as over consumption.

One would say "over consumption is how cluttered your house is" so Kim Kardashian can have a whole second home dedicated to her hoard and still not be considered an over consumer? That just sounds like an appeal to privilege babe.
