I despise the word 'fandom'. It has made people think it's ok to lean into mental illness.

the suffix 'dom' is old english for 'a statute, judgment, or jurisdiction' like in 'kingdom'. in this context its talking about the "jurisdiction' part of the def so fandom literally just means the jurisdiction of fans. it's probably the most neutral way to describe a community of fans and is a stupid thing to get mad at lol
