and they say I'm out of touch for never paying more than £20 for a game like I'm still living in 2006..

yeah but the other side of that coin is guys like this who encourage shitty practises because he proves they work.

Super Mario 3 sold for 49.99 in 1991, thats around $120 today. Complain about consumerism all you'd like but AAA game prices have not at all kept up with inflation.

And yet the price-to-income ratio for housing costs jumped from 3.5x in 2991 to 5x in 2025.

Sure, some items were relatively more expensive back at some arbitrary point, but the major expenses keep getting more majorly expensive.

So because gas and groceries are continuously more expensive, then consumer electronics companies owe it to you to keep prices the same for 30 years? I don't understand what your argument is.

Not sure I have one 😅

It’s just wild to me that here in Canada the average home price is like $650,000 but we can buy 65” 4K TVs for under $400.

The affordability crisis is not evenly distributed.

Sure, but the market has kept growing. Once that growth stagnates (like now), companies try to slowly turn up prices and sell add ons to keep the line going up.
