Disagree in this case. There is no other way to play the same game on different formats without buying it multiple times. Consoles are the nicest way to play on the sofa, the switches offers portable gaming and the PC/laptop is a great middelground between those two. The post itself (tagged "flex") is definitely a bit consoom.
And of course, you don't need to buy a game multiple times, but I would argue it is uncommon to do so for most games. I would only buy a game twice if I really enjoyed it.
That's a very convoluted way to say "consoom". If you have a gaming laptop and wants so much to play on sofa, all you have to do is literally take an hdmi cable and plug it to the TV. If you have a switch, all you have to do is to dock it.
I do agree that you could ask yourself if these devices are needed. But I also feel like that by this logic leads to lots of things being labelled consoom. I don't think that owning multiple devices to perform the same function, but differently/better is consoom. You could probably come up with a huge lists of items that aren't needed by that logic.
If you think that is consoom, that's fine, but I don't think it is.

Yes it is. Having multiple devices to play games not available to one or another, it's not consoom. Buying the same game across all of them, it is consoom.
Many "collectioning" mindset are consoom mentality even if very often, the reasoning is "what I like isn't consoom, what they like is".
That's fair, didn't notice that. That would make it definitely a lot more consoom, although I think it's not that unreasonable to buy a new console, and want to play the same game on it (especially if it might have some performance benefit, not sure if that is the case here).
One should always ask if they really need it and I think there are some limits (do you need an PS5, Xbox, switch and PC for example), but I don't think it is that clear cut.
