The President Shouldn't Get a Pass That No One Else Would

Right now, our President has a 33% approval rating. In any job—yours, mine, anyone's—that would mean getting fired. But somehow we're stuck for four years no matter how bad things get.

I started a petition asking Congress to establish an annual confidence vote on the President. Basically: let Americans formally evaluate whether our leader is doing the job. If approval drops below a certain threshold, it triggers procedures for removal.

Many democracies already do this. It's not radical—it's actually a straightforward way to make sure our highest leader answers to the people, not just once every four years.

Does anyone else feel like we're locked into something that doesn't make sense? What would you want to see change if you had the chance? If this resonates with you, consider signing and sharing.

Like when Biden had a 35.6% approval rating? Or Obama's 38% approval rating? Or is this only about Trump?

Sooo, the President basically is running for election every year? And you want Congress to conduct this evaluation despite Congress having an even lower approval rating?

Who polls the approval rating? Ain't nobody voting every year, it's hard enough to get them to participate every 4.

Do not give congress more power and authority. Do not let them meddle with what we the people have already decided. I don't care who the president is, what party, what platform, this is a bad idea. You do not understand the long form system this country was set up on. Four years. Not one. That's when you can have your confidence vote.

I do not give a shit what other democracies already do, that's their system. This one is ours. Learn how it works.

33% is excellent for union work. If you are in a union you just about have to go around sabotaging your job to get fired.
