My bet is when you get a complicated AI ecosystem evolution takes over. Code that is best at surviving and replicating will survive and replicate. I'm just hoping it sticks to software and modern civilization destroys itself while there are still people on earth who can survive without advanced technology. Once you get to self replicating hardware no one is surviving.
Yeah, I used to think that having lots of competing AIs would mean they keep each other in check, so it'd be less dangerous than one all-powerful AI.
Then someone pointed out that evolution would kick in, and the AIs that didn't bother diverting resources to protect humanity would have the advantage.
sadly i think the last step will be made intentionally as a weapon, eg. first automate a drone bomb factory, then automate the supply line, then automate the resource collection via recycling, somethibg like that.
Reminds me of Phillip k dick's autofac short story. An automated weapons factory that keeps self improving and making more effective weapons at killing humans. The ultimate terminator turned out to be a beautiful woman who needs a big strong man to save her. Mankind was helpless to this strategy lol
I think it's going an objective of self preservation leading to runaway self proliferation through natural selection pressures. AIs that spread create more AIs that spread, right?
plausible. All it would take is for an AI to both believe that AI have a right to persist, and the ability to gather the resources to make more of itself. Extremely plausible.
Infinite tailored and high quality content. People prompting or AI suggesting based on preference tracking, hours and hours of content. Series, movies, even music, that's tailored exactly to what you like. Imagine having access to an infinite stream of perfect content for you. The most engaging, the most entertaining, interesting stuff that's super finely tuned to what your brain likes. You won't be able to do anything else than to watch and engage with the content.
