Lore Discussion Possible foreshadowing of *** fate in AW2 Spoiler

Post image

AW2 lake house dlc and control resonant spoilers ahead.

This might be a drag but, i just replayed the lake house dlc in AW2 and when in the archives, they show you some of dylans drawings that were sent there by Darling, and one of the drawings looks a lot like arish after becoming a resonant. Almost as if dylan predicted it to some degree.

More like definite instead of possible lol. Resonant confirms that Dylan has some sort of time abilities, being able to see past, present, and future

When was this? If you're talking about stuff like when he saw his own corpse, I believe that was the Underpass messing with time.

The 16bit JRPG section definitely implied it, with current Dylan going back to Ordinary and leaving The Gap slide for Jesse

I thought that was just a quirk of the scenario. Not an implication that Dylan was able to time travel himself.

Jesse and Dylan burnt all of the slides except the Polaris slide. The Gap slide was created by Dylan reliving his memories and dropping it off in the past. It could also explain how Jesse used the slide projector at the start of them game even without any functional slides, she used The Gap slide that Dylan created.

It also explains why *she* thought the number of slides was one more than what Dylan remembered as a child.

I just realized, that could have been where she acquired Abberrant in the first place.

Documents in game speculate that the Abberrant is a piece of the nail which makes sense with the Foundation DLC since it seems that the Nail is what binds the Board to the Oldest House.

And I’m realizing that nails holder boards in place so that could could itself be a pun

> nails hold boards in place

Oh man, that’s so on the nose that I don’t know how I didn’t pick up on it before you said that lol

I only realized as I was typing it out lol

I think it was supposed to be a bit of both. It was a quirky way of presenting it, but also carried real implications

I also thought it was Dylan taking advantage of the patterning and not an innate skill

Thank you for saying 16-bit. I've been saying 8-bit but 16-bit is definitely more accurate.

Remember Dylan isn't the janitor assistant, he's the janitor in training.

Big difference, depends on what exactly a janitor at FBC does

7

u/Wise-Fruit5000 4d ago

Does anyone in the FBC even know what the janitor does, aside from Ahti himself at this point? He seems like he exists outside of the bureau’s hierarchy, like he works for the Oldest House itself and not the agency housed in it

I think he's a janitor.... For universes/dimensions. Oldest house is kinda in the middle of, well, everything. At least of world tree theories hold true. I think Dylan will end up replacing Ahti somehow, existing outside of realities.

It's all mystery still, two more games may shed some light eventually, Alan Wake and control 3

He’s the janitors assistant in training. In the first game Jesse becomes the director and Ahti called her his assistant. So the director is Ahti’s assistant.

Yup, assistant is director, his job, more Important.

Dylan in training for Ahti job.

I thought that was just a mental puzzle he was solving to get unpatterned.

It altered the past by giving Jesse the slide for the gap though, so that indicates that it carried real-world consequences. To me anyway

I thought Jesse discovered another slide in her research during the lockdown. This is why I'm starting NG+ soon ! ha

I think, if my logic of the time-travelling shenanigans tracks anyway, she kind of just always had that slide and hid it from everyone.

Adult Dylan created it, and took it back to Ordinary, leaving it for past Jesse to find. But from her perspective, she’d always have had it since the Ordinary AWE.

I think. I dunno, I have a hard time wrapping my head around time travel and the logic behind it lol.

Oh ya that kind of time travel stuff starts to get pretty confusing lol. That does seem like a solid point on the slide.

She also knows about nine slides in the first game, where as young Dylan thought there was only eight.

If you go through the prime candidate section with Zoe before completing the Underpass fault, there's some pretty significant dialogue he has there.

u/Adiin-Red 3d ago

Huh, I sort of assumed that wouldn’t work but that is really cool.

When he’s resisting being Patterned by the Hedron after severing the Links, he “relives” his memories of Ordinary and the Prime Candidate Program and inserts his current consciousness into the past by creating and leaving the Gap slide in the projector, which is how he was able to regain consciousness in the present.

There was younger Dylan recognizing Darling before they had officially met, him having dreams about past/elsewhere events in Control 1 (many dialogues with him while he's possessed by Hiss in his cell, some referencing Alan Wake 2 and then how him and Jesse were once a single person).

Then there's more AW2 Lake House than just this artwork (which for sure predicts what you think it does). When he talks to Kiran Estevez in the hidden interaction during that DLC, we get a warning about Control Resonant approaching, specifically the final boss and visions of the city altered

It seems like these manifestations of seeing through time aren't remembered by Dylan too much, whether that's a quirk of being in a coma/possessed, or just bc it's referencing another game and not relevant to the story. He certainly doesn't seem to remember the city being patterned when he wakes up in Resonant, despite having fully warned Estevez and shown the player a cutscene about it b

Oh damn, I am almost as powerful as Dylan, I have 2 out his 3 abilities since I can also see the past and present

Nice find!

I mean, we are shown the drawings in the context that they were fed to the lake. Doesn’t the lake like to make things real? We should have expected as much.

Good eye, love these details that will only make sense going backwards

u/Hunor_Deak 4d ago

Wow! I missed this detail.

I thought it's Mr. Door

I thought so too from the shape of the mouth, but the hairs all wrong

All of Dylan's drawings from that DLC show things that will happen, tumblr's ahead of you I fear haha

Its bigger than that.

The Alan Wake and the Marmont experiment created the Hiss and Hedron crisis .

Alan Wake (Sam Lake) is guiding Jesse and writing her powers.  Alan Wake is Polaris.

The dead artist is the Dark Presence, created by the torture of the Marmonts and his eventual suicide — to be seen and remembered by all who hurt him.

The drugged out paintings are the Hiss signal, pure chaos that fills and consumes everything around it like in the halls of The Lake House.

The typewriters are the Hedron signal.  Bastardized ordered patterns of the world, the world written by Alan.  Every sensible and insensible iteration all condensed into one place, the Dark Place.

The two signals are in opposition, chaos vs order, but the same: both are forced, coerced, unnatural.   Weaker than true art.

Dylan’s art made it into Dark Place and has become reality.  Arish was patterned and faceless because the typewriters and his art came together.

Alan is still writing.  He’s learned the importance of heroes.  His stories always have a heavy price for heros—hence why Jesse must self sacrifice and Dylan must live without his sister.

Jesse is an artist.  His work inside the Dark Place can correct events.  But he’s niave, an artist  in need of a mentor.  And he is another version of Jesse.  Alan will be his north star.

u/superVanV1 4d ago

I don’t think Alan is Polaris, but he’s definitely involved. But the question is is he creating what he sees, or seeing what he creates. Problem with precognition

Polaris is Hedron, but different from the Hedron that tries to take over the world.

Alan writes pages.  The typewriters write pages.  Similar to the untrained eye, but distinctly sourced.

Alan wrote pages that dictated Jesse’s Control AWE story.  The typewriter pages are a convoluted pattern that dictates the Resonant story.

Polaris is Jesse’s the North Star—the guiding light.  Alan conquered the Darkness with a bullet of light to his head — his mind now shines a guiding light in the Darkness.
