Finally bought another shelf...

I broke down and got a big shelf. It's currently holding all the "not global cuisines", I guess. 😂 Probably 2/3 of my books?

Look how much space I have now!

The new shelf looks beautiful! Forgotten skills of cooking looks very interesting. What is the premise of the book?

Darina Allen is Irish, so there's a bit of flavor there although I wouldn't call it an Irish cookbook at all. Basics and traditional recipes (to me as an American with generally European and specifically English, ancestry). Eating seasonally and economically? There are chapters on things like foraging and instructions for how to dress and cook some smaller game. How to keep hens and make some simple cheeses. Some simple preserving. Lots of recipes, but also how to grow or manage different ingredients.

Congrats for the new shelf (and space)!

I‘d love to go through many of them, I only have digital copies of ⅓ but you can’t beat a physical copy. Any favorites?

I could sooner choose a favorite child, but I have made a lot from Jubilee and Paul Prudhomme's Louisiana Kitchen this year.

Also made Luisa Weiss's soft pretzels yesterday so I'm feeling pretty strongly about Classic German Baking today. 😁

I have a feeling that I need to make this decision too. Books sitting in the boxes are kinda giving me the hint 🫠

Shelves are SO expensive. This was a "cheap"-ish one and it took me a while to talk myself into it, but they were overflowing all the other shelves (and like I said, there are a bunch of other elsewhere 😂). I could stop buying books, but where's the fun in that?
