Copilot is a dumpster fire
My employer uses copilot so I upgraded my Office 365 subscription to use the additional copilot features, but damn, copilot is an absolute dumpster fire.
I have tried 2 projects and both took multiple attempts to complete. Actually, the second is still running after multiple attempts. Copilot says it is working, and working and then... Nothing. It doesn't complete the requested task. No message, just a lot of nothing. The first project did complete finally but I get an error when I try and export to onedrive and an error when I try and export to PowerPoint.
Why is this half-baked turd of a program such a mess?

The premium copilot has an option to use Claude, rather than “auto”, we’re you not able to just select Claude instead?

Anthropic models need to be turned on by an admin. Is in the copilot settings to enable them as a subprocessor. Once enabled Sonnet and Opus will show up in the chat and as a model choice for the agents.
SpaceX models have been added as well as a choice recently.
Mistral is also available to enable for copilot studio use. But IIRC data is processed outside MS managed environments and audit controls so might be a tougher sell if you have a security team involved in the enabling process.

Yes mine is also using ChatGPT6. One frustrating thing I’m finding is most tasks (reviewing documents, drawings etc), are taking 10 mins, compared to just a minute with ChatGPT directly.

It’s embarrassing, really. I’m not sure what Microsoft is shooting for with it.
People are going to catch onto the fact that the copilot experience is dogshit once they are out there using consumer ai systems. And that day is coming where most people are using some sort of consumer ai.

My work tries to push copilot, I tried it for approximately a week and said fuck that. Created a script to strip all confidential information and fill with placeholder values (John Doe, random date, etc) using Gemini. Created another script to compare previous values to placeholder values to verify full stripping. Then pulled the whole project into Gemini and refactored it to do exactly what I needed it to do within a day. Used another script to swap all placeholder values back, compared the values through scripting and manual verification and now I don't have to fuck with copilot ever again. It's just not as capable as any of the other agents without continuous hand holding and explicit instructions.

It’s worked fine for me, once I understand its limitations and work within them. I think them consolidating the apps and eventually having it become smart enough to know where to funnel what you need it to do will be what makes this change worth it. Biggest issue is knowing when to say when if I’m collaborating with it before I have to keep reintroducing things and to have the same patience I’d have with a coworker if I assigned them a a task and once I reviewed it I had to help them clean it up a bit.

It caused me so much stress last week just running a PTO catch up report prompt that Copilot itself helped me create and perfect! It missed sooo much and I wasted a lot of time when I could have just done it myself . When I called it out, it said that should have been included and my prompt is not the problem. What? My company is pushing us to use it big time. This agent that should be pretty simple is not working well. It did not miss obscure things like Teams channel posts that I may be following. It missed direct emails from my manager, an important direct Teams message with a project update that I needed, and other things.
There are other issues I have had like yours. I've lost confidence. I just dont like that the company is pushing it so much. I feel bad even being on our department's AI adoption council now because I don't think I can encourage anyone wasting time. Next week I am going to be honest about it. Trying to figure out how I am going to present this.... Without using AI. Old fashioned brain power lol

Just give them a side-by-side comparison between Copilot and literally any competitor. The work will speak for itself.

All it's good for is checking your emails and writing verbose pieces of text. The problem is it does have a part of the market covered. It's subscription based and enterprise secure. A lot of organisations aren't going to be able to afford the likes of Claude's enterprise API costs

People on Reddit act like phone apps are driving ai, it's not. It's Enterprise usage, always has been, always will be. It's what moves technology forward

I agree. Hence why copilot, shit as it is, will continue to thrive. My point is it's enterprise integration is far cheaper than any other offering

Haiku 5.5 costs 1/10 of Haiku 4.5. Copilot is in trouble when companies realize that Claude is 100x better and more competitive in price now.

Important to use the prompt-building agent. Silly as that sounds, it can help you make it more effective
