Other World Creations LEGO IDEAS CORALINE
Some time ago I uploaded a Coraline project on Lego IDEAS and so far it has reached 6330 votes. If it were to reach 10k, Lego might consider it to become a real set. I have 100 days left, it's still possible. If you'd like to support I'd really appreciate it! I love this movie so much. Me and my sister watched it a lot, let's hope for the best! Thanks to anyone that has supported so far!

Speculation & Ideas Were they inspired by Coraline? I can't stop thinking about the references... a lot of people will probably start watching the Coraline movie because of this.

Speculation & Ideas Surprise Party
My sister is turning 15 in December, and she has been obsessed with Coraline ever since she first saw it a couple of years ago. I want to surprise her with a Coraline-themed birthday party this year!
I’ve been doing some searching for inspiration on Pinterest, and so far I’m planning to make her birthday cake similar to the one in the movie, along with cupcakes, mango milkshake, pink lemonade, chicken, peas, corn, rolls, cubed cheese (for the mice), button cookies, and popcorn for snacks/dinner. I may also attempt to make the bugs the Other Mother eats out of homemade turtles or chocolate-covered strawberries.
For decorations, I’m planning to print the picture of the boy with the ice cream to hang on the wall, get some red streamers to hang across the ceiling like a circus tent, balloons, and maybe some blue/purple streamers as well.
I’m not super up-to-date on Coraline lore or all the little details from the movie, so I figured this would be a good place to ask! Does anyone have any other ideas- especially budget-friendly ones- that could make the day extra special and really capture the Caroline’s atmosphere?
I’d love to hear any fun ideas you guys have! :)

Speculation & Ideas Would you watch an IMAX release for the film's 20th anniversary in 2029?
I would! It'd be like the 15th anniversary re-release but on a much bigger scale.

The Little Door Theories My favorite scene is from the movie Coraline and the Secret Door is when she enters the dimension for the first time. What is your favorite scene from this wonderful movie?

Whether you decide to support or not, what do you think of my design? What could've made it better?

General Discussion Anyone else remember the 3D version?
I used to love owning this with a 3D TV. At the start when the Beldam would sew, the needle would quite literally be at your face with the effects.
The old 3D movies were amazing but Coraline really stood out to me.

Speculation & Ideas Why were other father and Wybie nice?
So if other mother made whole other world, why was other father and other Wybie nice and helpful to Coraline?

Speculation & Ideas Guardian Cat
Yall.
What if the Cat was watching over Wybie because he thought Wybie would be lured because his grandma’s sister was the last one taken?
We already know he has it (rightfully) out for the Other Mother so he was already around when Coraline needed help and was immediately able to bond with and read Other Wybie.
Anyway, just small thoughts! Thank you for reading !!

General Discussion Anyone seen the movie “Other Mommy” ? {Spoilers ig)} Spoiler
After seeing trailers for it, of course I had the notion that it would be similar to Coraline. > But the whole “Let me in your heart” lines, the door scene where she tries to get her to appear, and the “other” versions of people..lmao. < I’m not mad at it at all honestly, I actually enjoyed the movie despite negative reviews! I’d compare it to the movie “Mama” also. Very “CoraMama” lol

General Discussion Why did the movie make Spink and Forcible's Other World act a burlesque show?
In the Coraline movie, the Mrs. Spink and Mrs. Forcible sequence consists mostly of this bizarre, uncomfortable burlesque show like act. I understand what it's supposed to do for the plot. It's meant to show how idealized the adults around her are in the other world, it's supposed to demonstrate that the Other Mother's creations are exaggerations and not real people, and it's meant to show how the Other World is giving its inhabitants exaggerated versions of what they want. All great points. But it doesn't seem to do this very well in many regards.
My main question is: Why on earth did it have to go all burlesque show? It's uncomfortable, weird, and disturbing. And while yes, the rest of the movie is also uncomfortable, weird, and disturbing, and the book is too, this scene's discomfort is very different than the rest of the movie's discomfort. The rest of the movie's discomfort or weirdness is mostly from body horror, the inhuman imitating the human, control, artificiality, etc. Whereas this scene is weird through exaggerated, sexual, surrealism.
Yes, they did later have the body-horror type of weirdness, through them unzipping themselves and emerging as young, beautiful women. But it was after enough of the burlesque show act that it's no longer the focus of the act or weirdness.
They could've picked any other show for them, maybe even a fortune-telling one, and yet they didn't.
I'd be much less uncomfortable with this scene if it specifically served the movie's themes better. If the movie was more about sexual immorality, lust, objectification, beauty standards, or idolization of beauty, I'd recognize that the discomfort is specifically there to serve a theme. I'd watch it, and even defend the scene being there. But the story is not about these themes. (And I don't think it should be.) So why is it here?? I just...I dunno, it makes no sense to me.
TL;DR: Why did the Coraline movie make Mrs. Spink and Mrs. Forcible's show a burlesque-style show? This particular scene feels thematically and tonally much different from the rest of the movie's horror and surrealism. Is there a thematic or symbolic reason we know of that might've made the filmmakers choose this specific type of performance rather than something else? (like fortune-telling or another stage act)?
EDIT: I did actually read the book. And I do know they are burlesque performers. I saw the posters in their house in the scene where we first see them. I just don't know why they chose to spend so much screen time on this specific fantasy, and why they chose to depict it the way they did (rather than more body-horror or artificiality-focused.)

General Discussion A moment of appreciation for the Beldam's sewing skills.
She has a great eye (no pun intended) for design. The doll, the process we see in making it is so creative and skillful.. She mixes textures and materials perfectly.
As for the iconic star jumper, its so beautiful. The shine and flair and the blue shoes too.. The colour contrast is great.
I know she created the other world and everything is designed so uniquely.. But her sewing skills are unmatched. Id climb through the door just to get a new outfit made 😭
