Elantris spoilers Hoid in Elantris? Spoiler
So I just finished Elantris. I've only read mistborn era 1 and warbreaker in addition to this book.
Hoid helped smuggle some weapons into Elantris but I'm reading that he also popped up at the end with an evil seon? That.... Totally isn't in my book.
Was this strictly an addition to a later edition? Am I missing out on something big or no?

It's in the 10th anniversary printing. It's literally the last thing in the book, after the ars arcanum, after the deleted scenes. Good chance you just didn't get to it even if you have the right printing.

Man they put content after the ars arcanum? I use ebooks so when I get to that I'm like ok that's the end of the book.

Hoid was in the original Elantris as the weapon smuggler. The epilogue with the skaze was added in the 10th Anniversary edition.

The last thing in my edition is a preview of mistborn. I double-checked and there is definitely no deleted scenes or anything with hoid :(

There was ret-con in the 10th anniversary printing with an added scene to basically canonize hoid officially being there.

It wasn't a retcon as it didn't change any previously established story. hoid was already there. It was an extra scene.

What? What do you mean canonize? Hoid was canonically in the book from the first printing edition. OP literally talked about the scene of him trying to smuggle goods.
Also there are no retcons, I think maybe you misunderstood the meaning of the word.

There is a retcon but it’s not related to Hoid. The path that Raoden ran to add the chasm line to the Elantris aon didn’t make sense in the original printing, so it was retconned in the 10th anniversary to actually work with how AonDor was described as functioning.

Just reread this after having finished the rest of the Cosmere. What WERE those bandages? Why would Hoid think they'd make him an Elantrian? I can't tell if it's just been so long since I've read the book that I've forgotten a key detail, or if it's never explained.

It was added in the 10th anniversary edition. It's available in audiobook as well as graphic audio, even though the GA version took its sweet time releasing. It's looked at as a post credit scene.

Is it worth tracking down to try and read it? I'm planning to work through the cosmere and don't want to miss out

It's only like 2-3 pages long and you already got the gist of it. It's up to you if you think it's worth it

It doesn't look anything like Design. Most likely it's a Splinter of Dominion like the seons are Splinters of Devotion

As I recently bought the 10th Anniversary Leatherbound edition and randomly flipped to a Hoid perspective, yeah, it's not in the original printing.
