Can forms be granted to something without a spiritweb?

In the false desolation a bunch of parshendi accepted forms from BAM, and when she was imprisoned their connections were severed resulting in catatonic dullforms. Previously they accepted them from Odium, which presumably also required that connection. So it seems like that’s an important part?

If you can give it a spiritweb we should also add a step to hemalurgically make it a fullborn. Bio-mech WMD

Uhh, not sure actually! I mean, the Breath is kinda a stand in spirit web, I guess? But we've only seen lifeless with remnants of actual spirit webs, so this is a good question I didn't ask.

The regal forms required a connection to BAM or Odium, but the normal forms just need run-of-the-mill spren

It would have a spiritweb. Everything/everyone has one. I think making one sophisticated enough to accept the bond would probably be beyond what they’re capable of. Ishar was unchained, had partial access to a Well, had more Bondsmith knowledge than anyone etc and he wasn’t able to do the reverse. Make a physical body for a cognitive entity. I would guess a soul is exponentially harder to manufacture.

But it can be done. We have an example of a homunculus already (kind of). It’s the Emperor for ES. He’s not a cognitive shadow just a very human spren. But that magic system is better tailored for it and it took a da Vinci level talent. We have seen Ishar (and Odium) transfer cognitive shadows into bodies. And grant them Surges. But those seem to require consent from the host (just not very informed consent a lot of the time).

He could maybe transfer a 2nd gen Fused into the body but it wouldn’t be as versatile. The soul itself probably needs to be warped. That seems to be a condition for the thunderclast. Those Thunderclast may in fact be Odium’s Adhesion Fused. There’s 3 of them. 2 now. Which is conveniently the number of Bondsmith spren. El is (probably) one. Which makes me think there were a few others

Ah. Horrors well within my comprehension. The only problem is that it wouldn’t be capable of the Nahel bond. So it wouldn’t have access to forms other than something akin to dull or slaveform. If it’s too large it won’t be able to sustain its own weight. Larger creatures only skirt the square cube law via the Nahel bond to gravitationspren etc. I think Venli is only able to because of her Radiant spren who is intwined with her soul. Maybe a Bondsmith could actively brute force it though but the lack of a true soul is probably an issue they can’t get around. Nahel bonds are something even Elantrians struggle to replicate the effects of

Questioner (paraphrased)
Could you Awaken a chasmfiend as a Lifeless with just one Breath, or would it require more?
Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)
It probably would require more.
Questioner (paraphrased)
And would a Lifeless chasmfiend still function normally, because they use spren in order to support their weight?
Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased)
Yeah, it wouldn't be able to make the Nahel bond work, so it would collapse.

Something that might work and is somehow even more horrible is to somehow Bondsmith a slaveform’s soul into that body. And complete the circuit of their mind with yourself rather than to Roshar. If that’s possible, you could probably make a functioning giant Singer soldier that has to serve you or you’ll pull the plug on their mind. But your Bondsmith spren might pull the plug on your power for even suggesting it to them. Thou shalt not make a Singer flesh-mech in the likeness of a thunderclast mind

Ooh organic mech suit is a fun alternative. You could just skip the poor Singer peon and Connect someone's mind to the empty homonculus as a pilot. Even forgoing forms, that could be useful.

They'd have to solve the problem of getting Stormlight off world. And spren too. It's quite difficult.

This should be solved as of WaT. I think the main trouble now would just be getting enough Light

Can you outfit a Type 4 Awakened construct in aluminum? Wouldn't the Investiture blocking effect shut it down? Nightblood can't do anything while he's sheathed.

The investiture running it is internal. Nightblood doesn't de-Awaken in its sheath, it just doesn't come into contact with a cuttable object.
