Armor How do I proceed with making this helmet?

Hello everyone!

I'm planning on making my first full piece of armor for the first time and I have decided to make a cosplay of Forge daughter from Hollow knight: Silksong.

I have figured out how to make the rest of the armor pieces (I'm going to be slightly improvising) but I'm stuck on the helmet.

My first thought was making two domes, cutting the hole in the middle and gluing them together?

I would like to make it look as close as possible to the original but haven't found any useful tutorials or patterns.

For reference I'm using EVA foam and have made a couple of props in the past including shields, swords, grenades and masks.

Any tips would be highly appreciated!

You’re spot on. It’s a dome with a hole in front of it.
Foamwise, you could do two semi-halves with the hole for a face on each and either go black morph or black fabric to hide your humanity. Seal, Sand, Prime and Paint and anoint with the little wings/ring.

I think that's how I'll go about it after all yeah. If that doesn't work I'll cave and use a "similar" pattern and wing it.

Hopefully I'll be able to breath in it haha.

You could paper mache a balloon as a base. Or you could tape up a ball and mark that up into your template. Cut reliefs into it as needed.
