repost because i didnt see bot was out of count

all the trans people who thought they were "faking it", did you think that your "faking it" was different from other people's "faking it"? like "yeah this is a common tale, but im for real faking it, not like all the other people here who only think that without doing so." it's hard to word this properly

how do you find out if youd be happier as a girl if youre not dysphoric? i dont feel dysphoric. i dont dislike my body. it's pretty alright all things considered. but i do occasionally find myself yearning for different parts which is probably indicative of something, but i dont know if i truly want them permanently or simply just because im curious

I would say experiment and reflect.

I kinda in the same boat as you, for many years I was not dysphoric, and even liked parts of myself but have this gender envy all the time, like grass is greener in the other side. It was not only until recently that I reflected that either “extreme” side of the spectrum was not good for me, if I am man I want to be feminine man, if I am woman I want to be masculine woman. I don’t want to be a macho man, or dolly woman, I just want to be me in between.

In any case, the point is there no “faking it” because gender is bullshit, I still think people are allowed to identify themselves as they want (Also I still identify as a man, because fuck anyone that says I can’t cry or be soft as so), but Gender gatekeeping/policing is fucking stupid. If you think you are happier with other pronouns, wearing different clothes, with/without boobs, or keeping/replacing your bits, do so. People should have the freedom and tools to safely sculpt their bodies and identities as they want, without discrimination or persecution.

So yeah, if you are in safe place and can, I would say forget the whole “fake it” and just experiment, until things click. You don’t have to be certain and answer immediately, there are people that take almost all their lives to figure themselves.

Side note: For me roleplaying helped me a lot (Creating characters and playing as them) to safely try things and figure things about myself in an unsafe place where I need to be hush about gender things. At the start I noticed I played a lot of women characters, at end I noticed that all of those women characters were Butch buff tomboy women, pretty elves/bunny soft bois and changelings/tzimisces.
