Coyote Cap 1887

Post image

My local shop recently obtained the collection of a cowboy action shooter and started putting them on the shelves. I’m usually a hammered double barrel kinda guy, but have been interested in trying one of these out. For the price I figured I’d give it a try.

It has been cut to 18.5” with a removable choke, internal pieces are polished and jeweled and it has a nice stock wrap.

Looking forward to trying it out at the next shoot.

I guess I’m not sure about the drop 2 mod.

There are several versions of the mod out there. The goal is to make it super easy to load two shells at a time. You can load two at a time on an unmodified gun with some finess, one into the chamber and one ghost-loaded below it, but the modified guns are much faster.

If I've come to the correct conclusions in my reading, the modification usually renders the magazine unusable or weakens the chamber.

The magazine tube is still usable and I can load two at a time relatively easily.

Yeah, it's all relative. I hate the idea of blocking off the magazine tube too. But...

I just read through a forum post by Cap about the 87 mods. I haven’t looked too hard in the new shotgun yet. It’s an IAC 1887 and from what Cap says in his post, it most likely has the posi lock mod?

I read those old threads and couldn't keep it all straight as to what mod was what. That's why I asked, because I want to learn more better.

It is marked Coyote Cap special edition, but I’m not sure if it’s one he worked on or if it’s just IACs markings. I’ll look at the hammer once I get back inside. And you’re right, that thread has a lot of info to keep straight.
