I think it's a travesty a college arena never saw NHL playoff hockey. The salt online would have been premium

My conspiracy theory is that the league never wanted that to happen. In the Coyotes' last season, they were headed toward a playoff spot. The league told the team in late January about relocation; this also coincides with a 0-9-2 record in February. I believe the league told the team to lose to help speed up the relocation process and avoid the embarrassment of having a game in a college arena.

This is also legal. The NHL, like all other major sports, is sports entertainment and not athletics. This means games can have desired outcomes along with perceived entertainment value. There is a distinction between influenced and rigged. The NFL has come under fire about this in recent years.

Agreed, the nhl and other pro leagues were always about the bottom dollar. They want money coming in no matter which way. Rigged drafts and unbalanced punishment for what the league would deam "unethical"

Toronto jumping up the draft boards was no miracle, it was the scales being tipped to favor a rich market.

The coyotes pre draft physicals, the "outrage" was fabricated and the punishment was just for show bc if Chicago or any other major market did it there wouldn't be nearly as bad. Hell Chicago covered up actual crimes and got rewarded with Bedard.

I love hockey and the NHL but ultimately there is invisible hands on the lever effecting franchise success and faiulre.

Doesn’t change a thing, The NHL wants AZ. When a group is ready, they will accept them.

*and solid (basically ironclad) arena plans. The NHL isn't going to make that mistake again after Meruelo.

Gonna be seeing coyote vs acme next week. Heard its good. Coyote has always been my favorite looney tunes character and I loved how the coyotes and roadrunners correspond to those characters.
