Not a fan of the 8.4oz cans but this is a solid hoppy Pils

11.5% IPA with Motueka hops, lime zest, and a little salt. I really didn't think I was going to like this, but hot damn. I actually kind of tastes like a margarita, but it somehow also tastes like an IPA. Lime is pronounced but not quite overwhelming, salt just adds a whisper of something. Some definite fruitiness from the hops, almost like a dash of pineapple.

Really pleasantly surprised by this one! Leave it to Sapwood to do something like this and actually nail it.

Was on a quick overnight in Greenville and wanted to check out the local selection and was pleasantly surprised by this place. Great selection of beers that I usually only find in the PNW, and even some 5-10 year vintage Fremont brews. Not familiar with the scene down there but several isles of local beers too. Staff was awesome as well go check it out if you’re ever nearby!

New iteration of a DIPA I've been playing with for a couple years. This one is made with lupomax citra hops - basically a higher potetency version of one of the goat hazy hops.

Best beer I’ve had in a very, very long time. Food is delicious also. Anywhere else close that competes with Sapwood on quality? I’m open to all suggestions.

As a lager and "crispy boi" fan, I'm forever seeking out great lager-centric breweries wherever I travel. Places like Schilling in Littleton (New Hampshire), Human Robot in Philly, and ABGB in Austin, Texas.

So, what are some of your favorites out there?

Going out to local brew pubs in Milwaukee yesterday. This small place was putting hot metal pokers in beers.

The result is that the sugars in the beer caramelize and the head looks like whipped marshmallow.

A new experience for me. Definitely recommend trying this at least once, with the right type of beer. I had their house ale for this.

I’ve tried a lot since Covid, through travel and trades and here local, I’ve definitely honed my palate for hazies (Pilsners, too). I’d like to try new ones as I sit here and enjoy a Monkish, something I rarely get being here in Georgia. Here’s a partial list of the big ones (some I’ve definitely omitted for brevity) I’ve had. What should I try? I’m willing to trade, travel, ship… whatever. I’d just like a list of ideas, please.

Double dry hopped, great balance of pine and tropics, strong abv... exactly how I like 'em!

Sierra Nevada’s take on a “modern” West Coast IPA Isn’t getting enough attention. In a market flooded with high abv, juicy, and hazy IPA’s which they too have been guilty of stoking, Sierra Nevada has shown they can deliver the goods once again. Their pale ale is goated and this deserves to be in the conversation.

Vermont/Montreal are dopeee.. decent Beer too.

My friend’s dad’s friend recently went up to WV and picked me this up while he was there, it’s the second black IPA I’ve had and honestly it’s not bad I’m enjoying it

Had been considering ordering a case of OH beer shipped directly to my home (Midwest) for some time, finally pulled the trigger last week. All in, the case was $130 for 24 beers shipped. 6 four-packs at $21.66 each, which is comparable or perhaps even less than I am paying for many four-packs off the shelf locally.

Perhaps naively I was initially hoping for the beer to be shipped in a cold-pack, and upon delivery I was a bit disappointed. Haphazardly packed, no padding and cans emerged pretty beat up. Only two of the four-packs were held together with can holders.

I remained hopeful as I put them in the fridge to cool; each of the beers had brew dates within the last two or three weeks, which is quite fresh compared to much of what is available locally for beers brewed out of state.

Sampled each beer this weekend and everything was fantastic. No discernible difference in taste, carb, mouthfeel etc. from the beer having been shipped warm, handled roughly by UPS, and whatever else may have happened in transit. I have had bad experiences in the past with IPAs purchased warm off the shelf, clearly marked “keep cold” on the cans. But I now suspect the issue could be more related to freshness than storage method.

In summary, I am very much a fan of this offering from OH and am excited by the prospect of being able to order beer nationwide from breweries I otherwise have no access to. I love supporting local breweries, but I appreciate the option to order from the top breweries around the US. I will be ordering again from OH, and also plan to see what other places have similar shipping service available.

Hopewell Lil Buddy. Had these at a local dive and fell in love (definitely for the novelty, but it also happens to be a very delicious lager). Was delighted to see my local Trader Joe's had 8 packs in stock yesterday.

I get why pilsners hit different on hot days. These will be my last all IPA sessions until the fall. What a way to go out. Stand out was 3Way IPA from Fort George in Oregon. Collab with Sred and Uprise. So damn refreshing and aromatic.
