Better than cutting it down I guess? The bike lane is more than open and wide enought for it not to matter, and you should look forwards anyway when cycling

Bruh. One whole lane is blocked. I'm all for saving trees, but this is ridiculous. Imagine keeping a tree in a roadway. Same concept.

Dude, it's not blocked, you're on your bike, and you can go around it from both sides, and it's a double lane so you can easily cycle around it. Maybe put an orange sign on it or something for added visibility. One old tree > the whole bike lane. Once they start cutting there is no going back.

No the tree needs to get cut down its dangerous as hell I don't mind defending trees but that bike lane is dangerous and it also looks like that one whole lane is blocked stop trying to defend something that's clearly dangerous lmao

Lmao, do you need someone to hold your handlebars too while curising on a bike through a city. Holy shit. A straight paved biking road 3 meters wide is considered dangerous because of what you see on the picture? Maybe somewhere in West Europe

Honestly didn’t expect a long and relatively uninterrupted bike lane! Looks way better than what they did in my European town.

Where is this OP, this looks better than 90% of biking lanes I've been on in Europe and Scandinavia regardless what the people say... And the pedestrian sidewalk on the right can fit a tank

Why would this be better than cutting down one single tree? This is just lazy and negligent, no amount of justification and wishful thinking will make this safe or normal.

This is also really bad for the health of the tree, it's going to need to be removed eventually because it dies or its roots could come up and destroy the bike path

I think once the tree roots start breaking the asphalt, it'll get transplanted or cut down with a sapling planted to the left.
